the one to watch will be la vs stl. la's record didn't do justice to how good they actually were, and stl's goaltending sucks so i'm going with la in six

I could see The Wild being dangerous and somehow winning. I do not think it is going to happen though. They lack scoring depth and are weak at the 5th/6th dmen also. They do have several elite players, Backstrom can be great, and they have a couple of potential big time playoff performers. I said if anyone was going to make an LA King type run this year I would predict Minnesota and I will stick with that. But I still think Hawks win in 5 or 6.

 

Kings and Blues is going to be a fun series. San Jose/Canucks will be boring. This is probably a pure homer pick, but I think Detroit is going to beat Anaheim and it will not even be that close of a series. 4-2

 

Bottom line is The West should be won by the Hawks. I think The Kings are the only other real Cup contender.

I don't believe your pick of the Wings over the Ducks is biased, the Ducks simply aren't that good. Here's an interesting statistic - http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=50225#.UX2fh0ofuKI, I haven't located a more recent listing but, I suspect the Hawks are back on top. Nevertheless, check out where the Wings are in comparison to the Ducks, this statistic suggests what many have said -Anaheim' record is misleading. Whereas, the Wings are still a pretty decent team.

the rangers are pretty good, but some of that is inflated by a meh east. they also have a pretty rad goalie, so after the bruins they're probably the most likely team out of the east to get to the finals. then again, they could also lose in the first round to the streaky capitals

The East is pretty wide open. You could make a case for 5 of the 8 teams making the finals.

 

The Pens: The obvious choice as #1 seed

The Bruins: Lot's of talent, good goal tender and brutal physical team

The Rangers: Great goalie and talented players that are just lately starting to turn it up

The Senators: They'd have the Vezina trophy winner if hwe hadn't gotten hurt. They don't allow many goals and have gotten key players back. They could be primed for a Kings like run.

The Caps: Ovechkin alone makes them dangerous. They got hot at the right time.

 

The Leafs, Habs and Isles could all win their 1st round series which really makes it hard to predict.
