not really fair that the phillies have to play without a first baseman

i don't think war accounts for their pitchers being exhausted by the third inning because they have to cover first on every play

Just throw the ball at the bag if it gets to first before the runner he's out. Worked for us when we played sandlot ball.

This is a flawless plan. I see nothing that could go wrong here.

When is the super two date? Is that known?

I think Russell might come up after that.

Super 2 date isn't a hard deadline because you reach Super 2 by having the most service time relative to all other players between 2 and 3 years of service. Conventional wisdom is sometime in June, Polanco was a pretty high profile case last year and he came up June 10th.

Maybe someone asked Crane Kenny what he thought was hip with the kids.

The band itself or them playing at Wrigley? Not that it matters, I can't answer either.

MLB Opening Night festivities is my guess

i don't understand much about this at all.

ONE you say choice as though it was just a given that we were having a concert in addition to a baseball game on april 5th. is having a band play on opening night a regular thing that happens?

TWO fallout boy is still a band? if yes, aren't they a bunch of has-beens no one cares about anymore? did sugar ray pass and we had to go with these guys as our backup plan?

I think in the last few years there's been a 'concert' in the sense that some music act plays a song(maybe two) on the field prior to the game. Fall Out Boy is an obvious choice because they have Chicago ties and they've had several popular songs since they reunited(is that the right word? I don't know). Immortals and especially Centuries have been played so often in sporting event taped intros/outros that it's basically become cliche.

it's a new thing that happens, apparently...but it's not that unusual when you look at what the NFL does.

Fall Out Boy will headline MLB Opening Night’s first-ever live musical performance as part of the pregame festivities at Wrigley. #Cubs

and yeah fall out boy is still a band and they have two songs on the radio right now, one that was as high as #10 on the chart at one point

they're the exact type of safe band they'd pick for something like this with local ties

wait i forgot about that uma thurman song... so they have 3 i guess

on april 5, the cubs are going to play the cardinals in a broken stadium with no bleachers and fallout boy is going to perform on the field immediately before the game.

in the alternate universe in which i am exactly the same except i am a cardinal fan, i would get an awful lot of enjoyment out of that. lester had better not suck.

“Wrigley Field has always been a magical place to me. In some ways, I can chart milestones of my life and growing up there – from going to see Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg play, to going with the my dad to the one of the first night games they ever had there, to the first time I took the ‘EL’ there on my own for a game with my friends,” Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy bassist, said in a statement. “When our band all lived in an apartment together in Roscoe Village, we used to pass out fliers for shows at the Metro after games. It has been a lifetime dream to get the chance to play at Wrigley Field. We are grateful to MLB for the opportunity and so excited to perform for our hometown crowd.”

Fall Out Boy will perform their newest single "Uma Thurman" as well as recent hit "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'em Up)" and "Centuries," the last of which will air live on "Baseball Tonight" on ESPN2.

Their last 2 albums have gone #1, the most recent one coming out 2 months ago.

ETA: And they had a song that was on some sort of sports coverage, played constantly last year, or maybe 2 years ago?

And the Blackhawks use a recent song of their in their intro/pump up.
