I thought they signed a SS from the Pacific Rim with a huge signing bonus, plus a couple other decent prospects.

I can't remember who this guy was and google wasn't finding me much.

If so who was he and is he in the farm system right now?

I'm not thinking of Hak Juk Lee who was back in 08, I thought there was someone around 2010 or 2011 they will paid a ton for and he was pretty highly touted.

My guess is you're thinking of Jin-Yeoung Kim. He's a RHP that we signed for around 800K during that time period. He was the HS teammate of a much better pitching prospect that had signed on with Boras, but we never heard a word about him after that. His name escapes me, maybe Hyuk Sung Han? At any rate, Kim hasn't fared very well and is likely to be in Boise again.

I didn't see SS attached, maybe you're thinking of PC Chen. 300K signee, will likely spend the season between Kane County and Daytona. Moved to CF, lots of speed and OBP, zero power. Maybe Campana with less speed, is a fair comp? We also signed Jae Hoon Ha, a C, turned CF(solid 4th OFer possibility in Tennessee) Yei-Lin Wang, a relief pitcher in Daytona, that has a ceiling of a middle reliever, and Tzu-Lin Wang, a very tall, hard thrower, that already washed out completely. All those guys got between 200 and 300k, if I'm not mistaken.

Its possible that I'm thinking of Hak Juk Lee even though that was 5 years ago and he's been traded since then.

I felt it was more recently but the years have been running together lately with my Cubs baseball depression in full effect since 09.

Were you thinking of You Darvush? We didn't get him.

Nope, I was thinking of a position player, I remember he was supposed to be super fast.

I'm getting worried I have been thinking of Hak Ju Lee this whole time, which kinda pisses me off and makes me feel old.

Yeah, you might be thinking of Pin-Chieh Chen. Can't think of anyone else fitting the Asian middle infield description besides Hak-Ju Lee or Chen.

Maybe he's thinking of Kyung-Min Na? He isn't a middle infielder (CF mostly), but he was supposed to be fast when he was signed, got a pretty big bonus, and there were several other Asian signings that year (including Chen for a lesser amount that year). He also was in 2009 so a little closer to the stated timeframe.

If it is him, Na was traded to San Diego in the Rizzo deal, and San Diego released him this year.
