Not trying to say everyone is wrong, but I don't recall ever reading/seeing anything to suggest Bush is actually bad at his job. Why all the hate for the guy?

I'm pretty sure it's just his association with Jim Hendry.

That's kinda what I've figured so far.

Did you ever read anything that said he was good at his job?

That he got a 3 year extension?

Jim Hendry got an extension, multiple times.

He was Jim Hendry's right hand man and there has never been any indication as to what he does well.

So therefore, he must be bad at his job. The only grounds you use to assert this is that he worked under someone you didn't like. Great logic you have there.

That's a pretty stupid statement.

I questioned what he does well. I've never heard anything good about him. Nobody has ever made any sort of statement about what value he brings to the organization. I don't see it, and I'd like to know what it is. I don't just assume that middle management types in sports are great at what they do. I'm not sure why anybody would.

You apparently assume they're bad at what they do. Far more reasonable.

Considering the amount of firings we've had within the organization over the last year, he obviously impressed Theo in some way. That said, I'm with Gooney, in wanting to know what it is he actually does well. Out of curiosity, more than anything.

The close association and approval of Jim Hendry means it's not a baseless assumption. Maybe Bush is great but all I know about him is Hendry seemed to value him, which gives me some concerns.

Concerns that are alleviated quite a bit by Theo keeping him. Maybe he embraced the new way of thinking and picked it up quickly.

But anyways I guess O'Neill is the move talked about?

it's difficult to decide, really. on one hand, he gets to keep his head for three more years under the new regime, so there must be something he brings to the table. on the other hand, i'm pretty sure i saw him wear a hawaiian shirt once, a wrong that can never be righted.

So nobody really knows what he did/does or how well he did/does it, but everybody has an opinion? Awesome.

Are you actually reading the thread? Jersey, me, and maybe others have asked what he does and how well he does it bc we've admitted we don't know. Some of us have expressed concern based on Hendry's apparent approval of him and Theo's approval makes the picture that much less clear.

It seems as though there have been few opinions expressed by those wanting more info though that hasn't stopped ct, for example, from calling out jersey for raising legitimate questions.

It's sort of sad to have to recap a pretty clear discussion bc some people aren't apparently able to follow along.

Good riddance if its Bush, dinosaur thoughts on the game and a pompous ass.

Well, this is a pretty good place to start questioning Bush.

Maybe UK is just really hard to get along with. :)

Cubs also hired a few area scouts & pro scouts, promoted some scouts and hired two major league scouts, Jason Karegeannes & Brad Kullman

While it is true, hopefully my small sample size of meeting with him (several times at KC) and talking with him and his general interaction is less telling than how he is within the FO.
