Dusty Baker left Wrigley for an area hospital and might not manage tonight's game:

CHICAGO — Reds manager Dusty Baker left Wrigley Field for a local hospital Wednesday afternoon. A team spokesman said that Baker was going to have a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia.

Baker, 63, departed the ballpark in street clothes just over two hours before his Reds were set to play the Cubs. Bench coach Chris Speier will manage the club if Baker does not return by game time.

CUBS are 49-55 (.471) when they don't allow any first inning runs.... 9-34 (.209) when they do

CUBS are 39-26 (.600) when they score first in the game.... 19-63 (.232) when they don't

30 for Soriano for the first time since '07. Didn't think he had that in him anymore. Good for him.

Kind of wish he could be on our next good team but it's not very likely.

Valbuena is so much better than his numbers show.

How the hell do you figure that?

His at-bats are always fantastic. He has a really good eye and drives the ball to the opposite field consistently.

edit: well, at the plate, at least.

How or why? His BABIP is only .020 off his career average. The rest of his other numbers are all inline with his career numbers (LD, GB, FB, HR/FB percentages) are within 1% +/- . The only thing he's doing more than 1% better than his career numbers is walking about 4% more than usual 12.5 v. 8.6.

He is what he is. An okay backup option whose gonna hit somewhere between .220-.250 have an OBP around .300 and SLG around .350.

Could've fooled me. Another clutch walk in a big spot.

Those are things his numbers can show.

I have the game on CSN right now. I wish all of those meatballs who talk about Wrigley being a place full of drunks who pay no attention to the game were watching. Granted, the park is not as full as it normally is, but the fans who were there were on their feet during Wellington Castillo's at-bat as he drew the base on balls to tie the game. You'd think it was the Cubs who were closing in on the division title instead of the Reds.

Kinda cool to see the fans getting into the game like they are.

What the what? You keep acting like you're pointing out things that can't be tracked. Do your damn homework.

And they don't even need a jumbotron telling them when to "MAKE SOME NOISE!"

4 run comeback that featured a crushed homer by the home team against the first place team in the Central. It's been a good baseball game. If I was there I'd be making noise too.
