I may way off here, but does anyone think the Soto's trip to Texas was arranged to make Dempster willing to accept a trade???

Nah, we just wanted to get Castillo some time and needed Soto gone, in my opinion, and there wasn't a market for him. Evidently the Dempster thing came together during the last 30 minutes before the deadline. It MAY have helped a tad in getting him to accept a deal there, but I think he wanted out of Chicago, after all that went down and would have went to a few places once he found out the Dodgers were out for sure.

You are probably right, but I tend to think of the deal as Dempster AND Soto for Brigham. Villeneuva, AND Hendricks.
