I just don't get how a guy with the Physical makeup of Volstad can have such marginal/poor stuff

Gimme a [expletive] break, it's a common sports cliche for guys who physically appear to have all the tools but can't translate it on the field

His problems seem to be between his ears. He looked like he had no clue how to get an out after there were two runners on base in the 5th inning.

Chris Volstad picking up where he left off. There is nothing to see here. Truth be told, we have no big league ready starting pitching prospects worth a damn, so I'd much prefer give him the rest of the season to try and right the ship than bring up something useless like Ridrigo Lopez or Casey Coleman. At 25, Volstad still has a glimmer of hope. The alternate options do not. And for what it's worth, Samardzjia was horrible until he was 26.

Samardzija didn't seriously start pitching full-time until he was 22.

Apparently Cashner has a strained lat.

Disappointing to hear Sveum talk about Volstad after the game. Said Volstad didn't stick to the game plan going in, and shook off Clevenger quite a bit. Also stated that Volstad wasn't fooling anybody even when he was getting outs. Unfortunately, he said they have no other option unless Dempster makes his next start. Seems like the skipper is not happy at all with Volstad.

Well he's terrible so I guess Sveum feels the right way about him.

Volstad makes Casey Coleman look good. BTW Coleman just turned 25, but they both prove that age has nothing to do with it. I wonder if it's worth trying Volstad as a short reliever and let him throw hard for 3-4 batters.

I can't find a damn clip of Rizzo's double anywhere. You'd think at least the local shows on CSN would've shown it in their highlight packages.
