Obviously, I'd like to do the 2001 thing where we follow up a horrendous losing streak with an even longer winning streak.

 

But barring that, seeing this losing streak turn epic wouldn't be the worst way in the world to try to wring some entertainment from this season. 14 to match 1997? 15 to set a franchise record? 20 for a big round number?

Not sure where you're getting that from... the ML record is 23 by the 1961 Phillies

That '61 Phillies team was incredibly bad. The very next year, the expansion Mets opened the season by losing their first 19 games. That was a whole lot of suckage in a small area over a short time !!!

Looks like there's a chance of thunderstorms in pittsburgh today, starting around 4pm and going the rest of the day. Any chance they have trouble getting through all 9 innings?

Not a whole lot to like in this lineup..........

 

CUBS are 0-5 with K Hill catching

CUBS are 1-6 with Baker playing 1b

CUBS are 2-5 with Mather playing 3b

CUBS are 2-7 with Johnson playing cf

CUBS are 0-2 with Mather hitting 3rd

CUBS are 4-11 with Soriano hitting cleanup

CUBS are 2-2 with Baker hitting fifth

CUBS are 1-8 vs left handed starters

CUBS are 2-13 when the opponent executes a sac bunt.... 13-18 when they don't

CUBS are 6-17 when they commit one or more errors.... 9-14 when they don't
