He would come at the expense of Cardenas. I'd much rather see what he's got, because he may have an actual future with the team. Instead of hoping Hudson has a hot streak that potentially could net us a player about half as good as Cardenas anyway.

i shudder to think of what your team full of fliers would end up looking like

According to search results from the last year, WSRs flier team would look like this:

Orlando Hudson

Michael Bowden

John Lannan

James Loney

Brandon Wood

Scott Kazmir

Scott Feldman

Daisuke Matsuzaka

-Feldman's been decent with the Rangers between the rotation and pen.

-Daisuke is still on the DL. Still hanging on to the flier

-Kazmir I fear is toast. But for a minor league deal, no harm.

-Loney has been awful, but if the Dodgers wanted to dump him I'd have taken him at the time. Remember at the time people were vommiting uncontrollably at the thought of Bryan Lahair starting.

-Hudson, I didn't realise how good Darwin Barney has been. Still as an insurance policy and replacement for Jeff Baker, why not. I don't see them giving Cardenas 2nd as bad as his defensive reputation is.

-The Lannan and Wood fliers can go in the shredder.

This is a team in transition. Orlando Hudson would do nothing but stand in the way of people who might actually have a role with the future of this team.

please explain to me how you have this opinion of mike gonzalez:

Braddock would be a decent buy low candidate, but Mike Gonzalez is just another 30 year old on the tail end of his career.

we may as well go with one of our internal options rather than sign a 34 year old recovering from knee surgery.

but this opinion of orlando hudson:

I guess he'd be worth a flier. If nothing else he could make himself into trade bait.

Yeah. I liked O-Dog for awhile as a quietly good second baseman. But the time that he was an asset has been gone for some time now. Not worth a flier. Just let Cardenas and Barney duke it out the rest of the year.

Because Mike Gonzalez was recovering from knee surgery. We have our share of intriguing RP candidates, but not 2nd baseman, at least as far as big league ready guys go. This being said, as awful as our relief pitching has been in late innings,I'd happily take Gonzalez right about now.
