And man, I would kill to just once see a young player go insane like that for the Cubs. I love seeing guys like Stanton and Trout, but come on; yes, I know, we have Castro, and even then you have to adjust it based on expectations for a SS and age and so on. I want a mother [expletive] monster.

Why did so many teams pass on him in the draft that he fell to the 76th pick? Signability issue?

Crazy numbers... http://blogs.thescore.com/mlb/2012/08/16/flip-flop-fly-ball-chapmania/

But for all the hoopla Chapman is getting because of his insane K numbers, it seems people have overlooked rthe fact that Fernando Rodney has this line so far this year:

56.2 IP, 5 ER, 9 BB, 55 K, 38 SV, 51 GF, 0.79 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, 474 ERA+

Rodney doesn't have the insane K numbers Chapman does, but Chapman is already getting mentioned as a frontrunner for Cy Young while I'm not sure anyone is really noticing that Rodney has only allowed 2 ER since May 27th. I kind of think Rodney's season has been more impressive in some ways.

@CSNBaggs: Bochy asked Theriot how he felt after working out in LF: "He said, 'I'm fine The only thing I'm having trouble with is fly balls.'"

hey i was at that game too, and yes i loudly booed dusty on a couple of occasions. got scalped tickets for about 60% of face value, right behind home plate. definitely a buyer's market since the phillies suck now.

I talked to the phillies fans nearby about Dusty and the impact he had on the cubs. Made a deal that I'd boo Rolen if they boo'd Dusty with me. :)

Denard Span is too claustrophobic to get an MRI:

I don’t know what else to say. It’s embarrassing that I couldn’t get it done today, but bottom line, I stayed there for an hour trying to get it done. Just couldn’t do it, man. I tried my best. When they strapped me in there and told me I couldn’t move for 35 minutes, I just couldn’t do it. I didn’t have enough Valium.

It's almost comical. 147 stolen bases....what?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/boltin-billy-reds-prospect-hamilton-steals-record-146th-base/2012/08/21/d42a4f5a-ebf1-11e1-866f-60a00f604425_story.html

Cincinnati Reds minor leaguer Billy Hamilton bolted to his record 146th stolen base of the season and kept running Tuesday night, swiping four in the first game of Double-A doubleheader.

Hamilton added his 147th steal in the final inning of Pensacola’s 4-2 loss to Montgomery. Hamilton stole 104 in the first half of the season with Class A Bakersfield, then was promoted to the Southern League.

He's not human, just a video game character transported into our world. I wouldn't have thought such a feat could be humanly possible.

The Phillies really don't match up well with a '90s Night promotion. Their current uniforms are a living relic from 1993, so they drag out the ones from 1991 - which were slightly modified versions of the jerseys they wore throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The Reds had their own terrible mid-'90s uniform, but since they set 1991 as the reference, they also wore uniforms that are associated more with their glory years in the 1970s than anything that happened in the 1990s.

what struck me about those reds unis is that the names on the back were ENORMOUS. larger than the lettering on the front of the unis, and the last name "CHAPMAN" almost spilled over onto the sleeves. looked pretty dumb.

Bud Selig's office made it clear on Thursday that he is the one who knocks. The Commissioner's office suspended three minor league players after they tested positive for -- wait for it -- meth. The players were all in the Tampa Bay Rays organization at Single-A Bowling Green.

Haha, what? Glad Selig's office finally let us know that you do in fact get suspended from MLB if you test positive for meth.

Those guys in MLB's office have brass [expletive] balls man, brass balls

As long as they aren't Brewers. Then Bud helps them find loopholes. True story.
