Paul Hoilman has a 21-game hitting streak, which ties the Peoria franchise record for longest hitting streak.

Remarkable accomplishment given the strikeout rate.

Back down to unremarkable given him being 23.

You missed the point.

When you strike out in ~33% of your at bats, you are extremely unlikely to hit in 21 straight. From a purely statistical perspective, it was a remarkable accomplishment. Kinda like guessing 21 straight coin flips.

I got the point I just wanted to pile on.

Man Jackson's K rate is absolutely astounding.

not sure that's the word I would use.

I'd go with the phrase "potentially crippling"

What is it that beats him? Fastballs (bat speed issue?) or does he just suck against off speed stuff? Which would be better/worse anyway? Sucks to not be able to hit a good fastball as a very young major leaguer...

A big part of Brett's issues is swing consistency. I'm no swing guru, and I'm sure there are far more knowledgeable people on this, but his swing does get ... a bit ... loopy at times. The inconsistency with the swing and the occasional loopiness exposes him to far more strikeouts. That said, he's an ... aggressively disciplined swinger? Not exactly a Colvin hacker of sorts, and not exactly, say, a Vitters issue, but he'll chase some marginal pitches at times.

Saw him during a hot streak last year, and while I'm sure the PCL helped a bit, when he's on, Brett Jackson can be lethal. I do wonder if some of the issues right now might have to do with him over-thinking it. There's been so many whispers about Brett trying to adjust his approach to be more in-line with what new management wants that I wonder. Nothing to base it on, just a random speculative comment.

yeah hoilman is as close to a Three True Outcomes guy as we have in the system... never would have guessed he'd have this long of a hitting streak.

What adjustment would Jackson have to make to please the new bosses? He did everything right but K's and BA, and he's still that guy.

I want some video of his swing. Whoever sees Iowa games live bring your high speed camera with you next time. I want to know wtf is going on there becaue if he were to bust (which I still doubt even with the K's) it's going to be something with that damned swing. I bet he's susceptible to sliders/curves down and in and fastballs up, but who knows? Changeups away are probably annoying...fastballs in...These things are so rarely in your basic BA scouting reports but so damn significant. I must know.

Anyone ever asked a BA or BP guy what the issue is there?

Anthony Rizzo hit his 2nd 3-run homer of the game and then Josh Vitters went back-to-back.

Nothing like a west coast PCL trip to help pad the stats.

I think Vitters winds up as a decent bat, who plays a little 3B, some 1B, and some LF in the majors. A guy that finds his way to 350 or 400 at bats over a season. Probably puts up a Jefferson Franceour type line with a little less power.

Jeff Francour with less power is pretty damn depressing

It would, so take solace that Vitters recognizes and makes contacts with breaking pitches like Francouer never could. I've never seen a worse hitter against a good breaking ball than that guy. Sheets' curve used to eat him for lunch and he'd just keep swinging and swinging.

He made Soriano swinging at a low and away slider look good. It's just brutal.
