as my interest in the cubs begins to wane, i think i will start by avoiding the eminently skippable cardinals night games. entirely too likely to be painful losses, and it's not during the day when i'm trapped at work and appreciate the distraction, win or lose.

someone text me if matt garza has a no hitter through six, though.

Garcia's a leftie, so of course LaHair isn't in there. Out of who is left is basically a toss-up as to whether you bat Soriano or Soto 4th.

I heard Garcia throws low sliders, so Soto's out.

Cardinals

Furcal, SS

Schumaker, CF

Holliday, LF

Beltran, RF

Freese, 3B

Molina, C

Carpenter, 1B

Greene, 2B

Garcia, P

A weakened lineup, missing Jay and Berkman, and with the less accomplished and righthanded second baseman. Can't believe Matheny thinks Schumaker in the 2 hole is a good idea.

This is going to be a blood bath. Cardinals always seem to be up for the series with the Cubs. This Cubs team is terrible and they know it. 1-2 is best case scenario but a sweep is most likely. Cue the tard fans.

This is not a good season to be a Cub fan.

Really no reason to sit Ian Stewart tonight.

I think the pitching matchup is advantage Cubs enough to overcome the difference in the teams.

Speechless. I couldn't disagree more. I love Garza but this offense is brutal and with LaHair out and Soriano in runs will be few a far between. Isn't the wind blowing in from the lake?

It is. And that favors the Cubs, too. Since we have absolutely no power, there's nothing for the wind to take away.

Anything can happen but to me, the Cards offense + wind blowing in is still much better than Garza and the pathetic Cubs offense.

3-1 Cards

I'm a Card fan and I wouldn't predict a sweep. Wainwright is going tomorrow. Nothing is working for him yet after Tommy John surgery. He's 0-3 and his ERA looks more like yards per catch.

Tonight should be a good battle. Garcia is not as good on the road.

I wonder how long it's going to take before I remember that I can't watch the game on MLB.tv at work because I'm on the other side of the river. It's going to be July before I am not surprised and disappointed by this fact.

There is one thing that is guaranteed to be working for Wainwright....he's facing the Cubs offense. That alone is enough for me to predict a win.

You are correct, Sir. That defense is suspect.
