I thought I would start the thread, even though I am too lazy to post all of the match-ups.

I will say this though. The standings are set up by points against instead of wins.

That, and that the Fight'n Quakers rule :clapping:

this didn't effect the outcome of my game last week, but KR put brett myers in after the week had started...the "do anything you want to get 7 starts" does NOT apply to relief pitchers, correct? in other words, relievers have to be in your lineup by the start of the week, right?

Is it just me or are the final scores all much lower than they were during the day yesterday?

...and now they're fixed.

That's what I thought, but stitch said this.

I added Arroyo b/c I wasn't going to get 4 starts this week. Let me know if I didn't apply the "anything to get to 7 (or 4)" rule correctly.

You can do whatever you want with your pitching staff as long as you don't exceed the max number of starts or have more than 2 relievers on any one day.

I don't recall a change to the rules regarding RPs being discussed.

I'd be more worried about Cespedes being swapped out just because of an offday.

yes, you definitely can't do this under the current rules.*

*though i would be in favor of changing the current rules to allow whatever daily roster changes you want to make...would make keeping up with all this stuff a million times easier.

I think I'd favor simplifying to a daily league at this point, also. Even if you're not going to have access, you can set lineups in advance. It would certainly end a lot of the arguing around here, though.

I completely agree.

honestly, just allowing us to do whatever we wanted with our rosters, whenever we wanted (as long as they remained legal, obviously), would eliminate like 98% of the arguments and remove all the thousands of exemptions/interpretations.

If that's how everyone wants it to be going forward, that's fine with me, but I don't think we can just handwave it for last week because that's how people think it should have been.

It does put people who barely check their team once a week at a disadvantage, though.

I hate to be nostalgic, but this league seemed to have no problem figuring out how to manage a roster on a weekly basis as recently as 3 or 4 years ago. Daily "do whatever you want" leagues take a lot of the intelligence out because you don't have to plan match ups, think ahead, check the weather forecast, etc. The only thing that may save that aspect is the limitation to 3 reserves.

With that said, I'll be fine either way.

I thought you just couldn't play guys that weren't on your team to start the week. My bad. Though I think his replacements scored negative points.

i agree with you that it shouldn't be that difficult to manage your roster legally week to week, but we seem to have a million issues each week the way we are doing it now.

we either need to scrap a bunch of the rules or FOLLOW/ENFORCE the rules we have now.

tough [expletive]. you shouldn't be in this league then.

So we are now all of a sudden a daily league?

Why was Kotchman taken out of Theocracy's line-up and replaced with Rivera? Kotchman was not injured?

One or two posters chime in and all of a sudden the rules are changed in the middle of a season?

Or am I missing something?

No we are not. I understand the desire to simplify but I find nothing more dull than daily lineup swaps based on schedule. It's not that [expletive] hard - you can swap your starting pitchers but not hitters or relievers unless they get hurt or are shipped to the minors

I don't have time to look at every player's schedule for a week at a time and pick the best matchups for hitters and SPs. So I'll do what I can but may well just not touch my lineup at all then.

None of us have time either. I can make the same argument that I can't make daily changes because my work blocks the site. How is it then fair for others to make changes at 1 pm when a guy has a day off ?

Simple, we don't do daily hitter swaps.

How can weekly changes possibly be more onerous than daily changes?

That argument only works if you don't have a computer at home. You can check daily before work and swap out guys that don't play or have a bad matchup. It takes less time than weekly changes do.

If you're against daily changes for hitters are you against daily changes for SPs?

I don't think it makes much sense to have different rules for SPs than all others. If I'm in the minority fine.

I think I still prefer the old way, but I see the merit of swapping pitchers daily to get 7 starts so we don't have all the argument over pitchers as we had last year. I like fantasy baseball when it requires planning. But, just like MLB, some managers plan their lineups 1-2 series in advance like Tito Francona while Valentine doesn't let players know if they are playing until they show up. Personal preference. If I managed an MLB team, I'd have 2-3 series mapped out.

And I don't have the luxury to plan my morning around fantasy baseball. Even if I did, I'd wait until later in the day to see who's going to sit or not.
