We'll be doing a fake rally top 10 with this team soon. This one would probably make the list.

hahaha, we should totally do this!

I'm 100% on board. Have a thread stickied in Cubs discussions and then add each fake rally to the original post.

That was a great first pitch Axford threw.

Axford figures that Starlin's a young kid who is looking to go up there and win the game. He's probably looking for a fastball over the plate knowing that Axford just walked Barney and thinking Axford doesn't want to fall behind with the bases loaded.

STOP BEING ANALYTICAL. WE ARE ANGRY HERE

How did Volstad throw? I see 6 K's in 5 but that doesn't tell me much...I'm guessing his breaking stuff looked good?

Breaking stuff was so-so. He was getting good movement on his sinker, and I believe that was the pitch he got most of his K's with.

Unless LaHair is atrocious are they going to bring Rizzo up? I thought they wanted him to have a full-year at AAA.

Their comments indicate it'll be more like a half-year.

With his clock already ticking, if Rizzo keeps doing what he's doing, he could very well find himself up sooner than later, which is why I'd very much like to see LaHair log some innings in the outfield, assuming that he keeps doing what he's doing. In fact, we could call him up now and have some sort of CF/RF platoon of Byrd, DeJesus, and LaHair, obviously with LaHair strictly in RF when he plays. Byrd, Johnson, DeWitt, and Baker are all even more expendable at that point.

It's a tough call when you have this kid slugging away in AAA but the interim 1st baseman is carrying his own weight, which brings me to the next question: if Brett Jackson stays hot in Iowa, and Marlon Byrd continues to struggle will they entertain the idea of bringing him up? I know it's just 4 games, but they've seemingly been entertaining the fact of moving or even benching Byrd in favor of Jackson since day 1, so Byrd isn't doing himself any favors with his slow start.

If LaHair keeps it up, I think you have to make room and try him as a starter in the corner OF spots once Rizzo comes up.

Will be a good problem to have it happens.

I think I'd rather just trade him toward the deadline if he manages to put up decent numbers.

Hopefully some AL team is in need of a bat and can give us a decent prospect or two.

They have?

Who has?

All I have heard is that they intend to have him work on his contact issues at AAA and want both of Rizzo and Jackson to play a while at AAA and work on things (which easily could just be lip service when they really are doing it because of service time, but either way, same outcome).

Yeah, once Rizzo and B-Jax are up, these losses will be easier to take (hopefully).

We just have to remember that this losing will all pay off one day.

Not sure how that works. They are already in the organization, so whether they are on the big league club or not, the losses count just the same. If it was something like Indy losing all year to get in position to draft Luck, I could understand, but this losing isn't going to pay off in any meaningful way. There is no Harper out there and they probably aren't even going to get a chance to draft first anyway.

Rizzo's clock isn't "ticking"

And I'm not sure that you do know it's just 4 games.
