As I mentioned in the other thread, the TV gun had Garza working 85-89. I hope it was a slow gun. I don't recall where it had Lilly.

I'm (wishfully) guessing it was screwed up since they stopped showing speeds.

Yeah I didn't see any pitcher hit higher than 89 today. I was surprised to see McKirahan get an inning of work today. The gun for him was similar to Garza and he seemed to have a real solid breaking ball, but I hadn't heard much about him. Saw that he was a 21st round pick out of Texas that was expected to be a loogy. His limited numbers last year during were pretty impressive. Anyone have some more info on the guy?

about as interesting (fun) lineup we can get.

Edit: just realized Castro isn't playing, thought we were only missing Rizzo.

Marmol rocked again... I'd rather not start the season with him as closer.

On top of the usual "It's ST" caveat, Marmol is predominantly a breaking ball pitcher re-tooling his mechanics in the dry Arizona air. There are bound to be rough innings.

Aramis Fan will not hear such things; Marmol in Arizona is not a new occurrence, it's been pointed out to AF before how being there can effect Marmol's pitching.

Apparently, Sveum doesn't like to pinch the middle infield in DP situations, preferring the optimal alignment to minimize giving up a hit.

I have no idea if that's better or not than the conventional wisdom, but I like that he thinks about stuff like that.

Does Rizzo have a chance to be the opening day starter at 1B, if LaHair continues to be awful at playing baseball?

Not even a little. They are bent on getting him some more AAA time. If nothing else, to save a year of service time.
