GregBiggins: Another interesting thing Gus (Armstead) said, if they could have gotten the waiver and paperwork filed on time, both boys would be at ND right now

Now there's a swift kick to the groin.

Who is "they" in that sentence?

I'm not sure but the hold up was the medical clearance by ND's staff. I don't know how much lead time they had (I think days, if not hours, as Armond only arrived at ND the Sunday before classes started).

Didn't USC not clear him medically either? I wonder if there's something way more serious going on with him.

Yes and that's why he's transferring. I don't know if ND eventually cleared him. But they couldn't get the process done in 24 hours.

Got it. Can't really blame ND for that then.

I don't. It's just unfortunate that it probably cost them both players.

UNC has picked up a bunch of good commitments in the last few days.. jumped up from the 70s to the 40s in the rankings. Also picked up another commitment from Junior Gnonkonde tonight.

Arik Armstead just committed to Oregon.

New Jersey ATH Devin Fuller committed to UCLA. Thank you Greg Schiano for going to the NFL.

UT stole a recruit from UT today. Texas is up to 26 commits, biggest class I can remember them ever having. If it gets up to 27 it might be the best class they have ever had.

4-star CB Armani Reeves has committed to Ohio State. He was previously committed to Penn State and was interested in Michigan. I'm REALLY starting to hate Urban Meyer.

Hassan Ridgeway may be flipping to the Aggies. Stay tuned. And are you counting Thomas Johnson in your list? Pretty sure he'll end up at A&M.

I was talking to a buddy the other day. He was saying that this tattoo scandal may end up being the best thing to happen to OSU.

Ridgeway stated last night he is 100% signing with Texas, of course who know's His worry was the depth chart which he really has nothing to worry about.

Of course not on Johnson, strange story with him and his cousin decommiting (cousin decommited from OU) bascially hours apart from one another thinking they were going to go visit Oregon together only to have that fall apart. The dude can play, sort of question his motives and the Dallas Skyline pipeline seems to be propducing a lot of diva's lately. If he gets past that he will be a great slot WR. I'll take DGB over him everyday of the week, but would rather have them both. We basically replaced Johnson with Daje Johnson who broke the sparq record this past fall at the Nike camp.

Ridgeway spent the last two weekends in College Station with his parents and wanted it kept quiet (it leaked yesterday, I believe). He may indeed end up with the Horns, but it wouldn't shock me to see him flip on Wednesday. That quote could have been to keep the Texas people off his back, which is also the reason he didn't want news of him in CS out there.

Landon Collins mother claims that Saban has offered Collins girlfriend a position at Alabama. That should make things interesting.

And didn't a recruit that got gray shirted say Saban got him a job for the fall. How are these not violations?

I'm not sure about the Collins thing, but apparently the thing with the gray shirted RB is not a violation. They're allowed to get recruits a job, even if they aren't enrolled.

Apparently offering a job to a recruit's girlfriend is only a violation in baskeball.

Surely, hiring a recruit's girlfriend would be an NCAA violation, right?

Not according to AL.com which determined that NCAA prohibitions on hiring "an individual associated with the prospective student-athlete" only applies to basketball.

Seriously.

"The NCAA passed a new bylaw in 2010 pertaining specifically to men's basketball that prohibits a university from employing an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete. This bylaw, however, does not apply to college football recruits. According to NCAA bylaw 13.8.3.2:

"In men's basketball, during a two-year period before a prospective student-athlete's anticipated enrollment and a two-year period after the student-athlete's actual enrollment, an institution shall not employ an individual associated with the prospective student-athlete in any athletics department non-coaching staff position."

I really hated losing Santos. I've heard a lot of really good things about him.
