Lot of questions why #Bears passed on Ole Miss OT Bobby Massie with 4th rd pick. So, I called scout I trust. What he said tells you why Bears and 31 other teams passed on Massie for 4 ½ rounds. Report from scout was Massie is “lazy” and he suggested there were other off-field issues that would create concern. Massie was durable performer in school and we’ll see if Cardinals got a solid pick at No. 112, one pick after Phil Emery drafted Evan Rodriguez. But know lots of teams passed on Massey.

Lots of teams passed on Massie, but not a lot of teams have a LT that has given up 23 sacks in the last 2 years and had its QB injured 2 years in a row, costing the team a legitimate shot Superbowls. I really hate the argument that "a lot of teams passed on him". I'm sure teams with 2 legit tackles or tackle prospects aren't going to kick themselves for not drafting Massie. But the Bears have neither, they should if he turns out even to be an adequate player.

cutler was injured against san diego because knox fell down, not because of webb. that said, they needed to pick reiff in the first round, that's where they missed. why pick massie and get another backup? their depth is fine.

Chris conte never ran a 4.4 40

Hardin feels like Lovies pick to go against megatron

Hardin's not a CB. He wasn't even going to play there this year, if he hadn't missed the whole year.

i'd like to see him at least tried there. he has sub-cb speed and he's bigger than tillman.

I don't know. Doesn't look like he can turn and run with WRs who have some twitch and/or great straight line speed. He still doesn't have Megatron/Chocobot speed, and he doesn't have Greg Jennings quickness.

and that's probably what makes him a safety. but man, he is fast.

Doesn't really matter HOW Cutler got injured. Bottom line is he took too many hits and didn't finish the season for the 2nd straight year.

Many considered Massie as a starter ready NFL RT, with some athletic upside to play LT in the next 2-3 years. Also, the Bears depth also is NOT fine. The only OTs on the roster are Carimi (who missed 14 1/2 games last year) and J'Marcus Webb. Lance Louis and Chris Williams are failed OTs that should never go back.

I know T is much more of a need than G but do we get James Brown if he's there?

Forgot he was still on the board. I think he can play OT in a pinch. He'd be a good pick regardless.

louis played really well at RT this year. williams is the backup at LT, with spencer/e. williams/rachal all capable guards with spencer as a backup c and garza who can play either guard position. they don't need any more backups.

I didn't realize you were as blind to the line problems as you appear to be. Anybody taken in the 4th this year is automatically more talented than 3 of 5 bears linemen. They didn't need a fullback, let alone a 7th rounder

No one will convince me that Massies preceived laziness is worse then Webbs actual suckiness

it's not worth a 4th rounder if a guy you like is on the board, which he was. i'm telling you, rodriguez is a player.

Oh well if he's a playa so be it

(I'm teasing you)

I'm sure Frey is one hell of a special teams guy. Good lord. I was hoping for Dennard, so we could see a steel cage match with him and Jeffery.

Joshua Moore all over again. Undersized CB who isn't all that fast. At least it's the 6th round this time,. UGH

He's six feet tall. That's not undersized.

Feel the same way I did after free agency last year. The Bears are one of the teams in a position to really take the next step and legitimately compete for a Super Bowl championship. I've never once suggested they go all Eagles/Cowboys and sign everyone or trade up to the top 5. And I understand the value of scouting. But it seems like the Bears are more content with trying to find a diamond in the rough rather than making a big splash play for someone that can really help this team the moment he steps on the field.

It was the OL and WRs last offseason. This year it's signing a bunch of special teamers, spending on a RB, and drafting projects. The Marshall trade was wonderful, as was the Cutler trade. But for once, I'd like to see the Bears take a chance. Go all out and bring in a lineman. OG, OT or OC in free agency. Trade up and get a Fletcher Cox, who the Bears basically said they thought was the best defensive player in this draft.

Yea, I'm seeing 5'11'' 188 with a 4.46 40. Its not stunning or anything, but about what you'd expect for a CB.

Measured 5'10 1/2" at his pro day and 4.46 is good, but not outstanding, especially considering it came on his home track at his pro day where times are always better. There's bigger guys just as fast on the board, like Coryell Judie. Buddy Jackson from Pitt is taller and faster, just as likely to not make an NFL roster.

He's not 6'. Hes 5'10". And Jeffery isn't 6'4" he's under 6'3". No point in pretending these guys are more than they are.
