I'm nervous about Wright. Does he have an "elite" skill set? What would he bring that Hester and Knox do not?

Wright is an elite WR minus the height. I've seen him compared to Steve Smith based on his ball skills with his ability and willingness to go get the ball in traffic and in the middle of the field. I've seen him compared to Mike Wallace because of his deep speed and ability to get up to speed quickly. I don't really like any of those comparisons, but he reminds me a lot of Wallace's teammate Antonio Brown...but more polished. He's very good at getting to the open spot and has really good hands. But he can improve as a route runner. He's good now, but could be a little sharper when making cuts. Going to be very dangerous after the catch.

We're at Notre Dame's Pro Day today. Probably for Floyd, just in case he fell that far. I agree with Jersey, any of those 3 spots could be taken, I'll throw in OG as well as a possibility, albeit a very slight one.

I would throw in CB too. If I had to guess, I would say that if any of Coples, DeCastro, or Kirkpatrick fall to 19, the Bears would jump all over them/him. Otherwise, I think it's between Kendall Wright, Nick Perry, and Whitney Mercilus for the pick. I really don't think the Bears are very interested in Jon Martin or Mike Adams. Neither seem to be Tice guys.

Honestly... to me, Wright = Percy Harvin (minus the migraines). What I like about Wright is that he's just not a downfield threat/speedster (like Stephen Hill), but he can be just as deadly at the line as scrimmage. He also WILL try to run you over if you're in his way or fight for the ball. A WR who "could" do it all as a #2 WR. He would compliment Marshall so well IMO (better than Hill).

This is coming from a guy who didn't want Wright at first (for awhile) as I thought he was just a better version of Hester/Knox, but after reading/watch highlights... I'm seeing more of Percy Harvin/Steve Smith.

Even though Harvin is fast(er?), I think Wright is a better deep threat. Harvin really has never had to run the deep routes as he was a RB in college and played beside 1-trick ponies like former Bears, Berrian and Aromashodu. Wright also has better body control and uses his body to shield defenders better down the field. That's where I think the Steve Smith comparisons come in. WRs under 6' aren't typically good deep threats because defenders who are the same size or bigger can outfight them for the ball. Smith is the rare exception because of his ability to make a play on the ball and shielding with his body.

Apparently Hub Arkush's sources say that the Brandon Marshall "incident" is far from resolved.

Hub is saving face. Since the trade news broke, he's been bagging on Marshall and hating on him personally.

big surprise there. hub is just doing what he does. they have a tape of someone who isn't marshall punching the woman and police who are uninterested in questioning him.

if goodell wants to come after marshall, he better have something better than "he was out at 4 am"

Bunting's latest mock has the Bears taking Stephen Hill at 19

I've seen Wright, Hill for WR, nearly every first round DE, OT Martin and CB Gilmore/Kirkpatrick being mocked to the Bears.

It's going to be interesting what they do with that pick.

I think if the Bears want Stephen Hill, they will trade down...especially if Wright is on the board at 19. Based on the things they have said and the players they have shown interest in, I think the Bears would like an extra pick (lost from Marshall trade) again. They appear to want/need a WR, DE, CB, have been looking at mid-round LBs, and if Okoye doesn't re-sign, they'll need a DT in the mid-rounds at worst.

I saw Dickerson mention we're looking at Eric Steinbach. Awesome news, if this was 5 years ago.

Only looking at him as bench depth. Probably going as cheap as possible at this point knowing Forte could sign his offering and no one else wows Okoye enough to lure him away from whatever offer the Bears threw on the table.

Mel Kiper has a new 2 round mock draft posted where the Bears select Mercilus at 19 and WR Rueben Randle (LSU) at 50. I'd be okay with that. He also shows Kendall Wright falling to 26, which means the Bears passed on him. Also shows AJ Jenkins getting picked 38th, which means the secret is out on him being a steal in the later rounds.

I don't know how I feel about Mercilus. I think this year at DE, there are question marks about all of the first round talents.

I'm not a fan of Randle. I'd rather take Sanu, Jeffrey, Jenkins, McNutt, Criner, Quick, Toon or even take Dwayne Allen over him.
