part of me is wondering if Kerry Wood has been informed of the rebuild and has decided to go ahead and retire.

I doubt that, but it has been awfully quiet lately. I thought this should be a fairly easy signing to get done... give him a 1 or 2 year deal with a raise of somewhere between $500k-$1M per season and be done with it.
