yea he's annoying/obnoxious, but at least he isn't loathsome like funk is.

Ok, I get why people would find King obnoxious, but why is funk "Loathsome"?

 

because he flat out insults the opposing team every night and is an extreme homer. the fact that he says a lot of stupid stuff is just icing on the cake.

There's a difference between a Jeff Joniak type homer and a Hawk Harrelson type homer. Funk is more in the latter mold.

Funk rarely has an idea of what's going on, constantly has the score wrong, his facts wrong or the players wrong, and frequently just makes things up to be heard. He makes Stacey King look like a smart analyst and on top of things.

 

Yeah, Stacey can be a ridiculous homer because he's there for that kind of [expletive]. Funk is supposed to be the professional, but he's awful. He's a homer, he's bad at doing play by play and he has a really creepy voice.

Awesome comeback win tonight. The defensive effort was there the whole night, which was nice to see. I have a feeling we're going to see Taj and Omer get more PT than they should, just because of how terrible Noah and Boozer are.

Swirsky's a terrible homer too, but he's fine for the radio. I miss Larrivee and Dore.

Oh, I absolutely agree with that. Once Watson comes back, I think they'll be able to give Rose a bit of a rest. Unfortunately, I think Deng's going to be one of the league leaders in minutes again.

I love the Bulls announcers. They actually give a @#$% about whether the Bulls win or not and pretty much call it how it is. They have an audience and cater to it. If you want to listen to the Hawks homers watch the Atlanta station.

I dont mind Funk being a homer so much. Hes constantly calling the action wrong.

Funk is a as a play by play man what Santo was as a color guy. It doesn't work as well when you are doing play by play. I used to listen to Bulls games on the radio more often than watching in the mid 2000's and Funk was doing play by play on the radio then. I'm not sure how I knew what was going on.

I actually really liked Funk when he was on the radio. I applauded the move to TV. It was then I realized all the humiliating errors he makes on a nightly basis.

 

Here is one example: Last year there was a situation where someone hit a 2 point shot, CLEARLY a 2 point shot. He had a full foot inside the line, you could clearly see a large gap between his feet and the line. But Funk said that the player hit a 3. Ok whatever, he'll figure it out pretty quickly when he looks at the score. Nope he continued for the next 3-4 minutes mentioning the incorrect score for some reason, never questioning why the score on the TV monitor was different than his made up score. Eventually they went to commercial, and when they came back, he was confused about why the score was now 1 point less than before, and speculated that the refs must have looked at the play again and changed the call.

 

Let me remind you that the player was CLEARLY inside the line, with a huge gap between his foot and the line, and that the scoreboard at the arena and on TV displayed the correct score the entire time. Just bizarre.
