Sources: Cutler broken thumb; likely out rest of reg season

Canie is a better option than Todd Collins was last year.

Well yeah, I'll grant that.

That's a bit like saying Jerry Sandusky is better than Ted Bundy.

But we still have yet to see what Hanie can do when the defense isn't playing a prevent style on him. The only way the Bears could get Orton is if Denver released him right?

dude, just shut up.

hanie will be fine, trust me. he's going to come out, throw for 200 yards and no interceptions next week while displaying exceptional feet and a nice arm and we'll all be optimistic.

SUCK FOR LUCK!

[expletive] YOU [expletive]

It was just a joke, dude. Others have been cracking jokes in this thread as well. I meant no disrespect. Losing your starting QB is tough for any fan.

Most Packer and Lions fans are too nice to gloat, but you know they are loving this right now.

Meh, I take solace in the fact that they were almost certainly getting nervous about the Bears until about 8:00 tonight.

Well if his thumb is so messed up, how did he tweet just an hour ago? HMMMMMMMMM?

Good point, and he tweeted VIA his blackberry, so it wasn't SIRI

Seriously though, I feel like all this freaking out is incredibly preemptive. I doubt they've even finished testing his thumb and figuring out their options yet.

Not nearly the same degree, but Rodgers got concussed last year vs. the Lions and missed the next game. There was a point during that span when you didn't know when he was going to come back due to the new NFL rules regarding concussions.

It's being reported by multiple beat writers. The Bears front office isnt Theo/Jed. It's a bunch of clowns who leak everything.

Yeah its hard to type 40 characters without the use of a thumb, lol

I don't think anybody's brought up this other negative side effect of this mess, Angelo and Co. can ignore the problems with the team another offseason because getting Jay back healthy will be the upgrade we need.

Yeah I don't think there's any doubt that it's something serious at this point. Even if he gets a second opinion, its pretty unlikely that the 2nd xray is going to show somehow that its not broken as badly.

The guys on AM 1000 are talking like there is no question that Cutler is having surgery tomorrow and out for the regular season.

Meh, they will again have a ton of cap space this offseason, even more than last year, and even with extensions, there will be a lot of pressure to use more of it than they did last year.

Just when I was starting to believe the Bears were a legitimate threat in the NFC. That really sucks for you guys, but I can't say that I'm unhappy about this development.

karmas a bitch

Jim Miller says don't assume it'll be 6-8 weeks for Cutler. Depends on where the break occurred. Watch interview at 10pm.

Thanks for that, sounds optimistic. I have a hard time seeing him back in less than 6 weeks once he has surgery. Maybe he's saying he might not need surgery if the break occurs in a certain spot. We'll see.

I don't feel like our season was robbed from us, as I recognize just how lucky we were with injuries last year. Not that this has any effect on injuries suffered this year, but it doesn't feel as unfair due to how fortunate we were last year.

This is the king of all injuries, dude. Explain to me why this never happens to a Packer QB?

I think the Bears will be fine. They have had the defense and special teams carry them before (they seem to thrive off of stuff like this) and considering the competition they have in front of them it's not like wins aren't possible.

I think your team's major concern should be if he is ok for the playoffs or not. It is hard to imagine them making a deep run with Hanie as the QB.
