I guess I do hate people that throw beer on/cuss at a guy holding a sign saying "put abused kids first"

So those assholes represent the University?

Posted
Well, add up these people, the rioters, those holding a vigil on lawn. Hundreds of students, maybe more? That's significant represtation.

To me, it's confirmation that the rabble exists at Penn State. But not much more.

Mouth breathers are prevalent, as they have always been. Unfortunate, but such is our world.

that's all the signs said, right? nothing about canceling the season or alleging that everyone in the football program knew about the abuse?

They really are the lowest common denominator of college fb, so I'm not really suprised

(a) surprised

(b) you do raise a good point, we can't all be classy enough to repeatedly post "pedophile state university" on an internet message board.

Sooooo...he deserved it? He was asking for it? What exactly are you saying here? How do either of those things possibly justify the treatment he got?

No one is justifying anything. We're just arguing that Theo's theory that every current and former PSU student/professor/administrator is a rioting child rape-enabling bully is a little bit of a stretch

Well, no, it's more than that in that post; Truffle went out of his way to clarify some of things said on the sign, as if that's somehow justification or a reasoning for the treatment the protester received.

i think it's fairly easy to deduce that every coach in that program knew about sandusky.

Would he have gotten the same reaction if his sign had said "put abused kids first," as theo said?

Also that article is from the Washington times, which is not especially well known for its accurate reporting. I'm sure the guy took some abuse but I quite doubt it was the hours-long barrage that the reporter claims. And lastly, if you're going to make a sign that says the entire program was aware of sandusky's indiscretions, what's the problem with people waking by and calling him an [expletive]? He's exercising his freedom of speech and so are they.

and the rest of us are free to judge those fucks as the fucks they are.

Personally I think many of the people calling for the rest of the season to be canceled are sanctimonious d-bags who are more interested in showing they care more about the victims than about doing what's best for the community and, yes, the victims.
Posted
yeah, they're all just pretending to care about molested kids.

what are you basing this [expletive] on?

they do care. but they care more about their own grief/anger/disappointment than about what is best for the community. and considering that some of the victims' parents have said that the games should be played, it'd be kind of hard to argue that they care more about the victims than those who think the games should be played.

i think those who want the games to be played care about the kids, but care more about winning football games. i think that's the problem the people who want the season forfeited have with those who don't. i don't care if they play one way or another, though, i don't think it means anything either way.

i don't think that's true at all. i think the games should be played, and i am actively rooting against psu. of course most people were rooting for psu on saturday, but there were things at the game (players walking out arm in arm, moment of silence before the game, prayer by both teams together) that were done in recognition of what occurred.

i really do not see the point in punishing the psu players, opposing players, and local economies (state college, columbus and madison) for mistakes made by a handful of administrators and coaches, and i don't think that canceling 3 football games is any more a sign of respect to sandusky's victims than playing them.
