Buerhle is the kind of player that Kaplan pleasures himself to.

It was the sports central Anchor, schanowski

It was more a general slam against Buerhle and Kaplan than the other zilches on Comcast.

And I'm sure their logic amounts to basically the same thing I've heard on the radio; that he's thrown both a no-hitter and a perfect game.

and won a ring and has the all time interleague wins lead!

someone called in to mully and hanley this morning and said these things as his argument for why buehrle is a HOFer already.

It's funny...Levine did the same thing, sort of. He more or less put CJ and Buehrle on equal ground this morning, saying that they were 1 and 1a on the market.

Understood. I just think Schanowski gets away with a lot of the same stupidity as the others just by not banging it over everybody's head so much. But if you listen to his reports it's clear he thinks Zambrano, Ramirez and Soriano all suck and that it would be absurd to even think of any of them contributing something positive to the team.

I really can't think of anyone there who isn't a meatball at least most of the time.

@thekapman David Kaplan

Check out my new profile pic of Mark Buehrle in a Cubs uniform. The prospect has to be terrifying to @ryguff and @chuckgarfien.

Cowley tweeted that Buehrle wants 3 years and a NTC and 2 NL teams appear willing to do this.

Really hope we're not one of them.

I highly doubt that we are. NTCs annoy the hell out of me. I can understand having a limited NTC with a list of teams that they'd refuse to go to buy a full is just dumb.

My guess is Marlins and Nats. I know that it was reported that the NTC had the Marlins balking but I think that they'll end up agreeing to a partial.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that 14 teams are in on the bidding for free agent left-hander Mark Buehrle, with the Twins and Diamondbacks among the "surprise entrants."

Given the choice of Buehrle at 3/45 or CJ at 5/90, who do you want? How about Buehrle at 4/60 or CJ at 6/120? The 1st answer for me is very close, but I'd take CJ. The 2nd one isn't close and I'd take Buehrle.

CJ is the 1st answer, none of the above would be the 2nd answer.

Per rotoworld:

The Nationals have made an offer to free agent starter Mark Buehrle.

Bill Ladson of MLB.com, who reported the news, hasn't heard the dollar amount offered. Ladson writes that the Nationals are still interested in Roy Oswalt but that C.J. Wilson "is not a top target" and "is not really on the radar screen." Washington will have plenty of competition for Buehrle, most aggressively from the Rangers and Marlins.

All it takes is one, but it really seems to me that teams are more interested in Buehrle than they are CJ. Maybe CJ's pricetag WILL come down after all.

NTCs are fine as long as they're given out judiciously. If the Cubs give one to Starlin Castro when they give him his first major deal, that's perfectly fine. If they give it to a 33 year old pitcher looking for a 3/45 deal, that's not smart. Hendry did a little of both.

The benefit to a NTC is that adding it into a deal can bring the overall pricetag down. That can make it worth it if it's the right type of player.

First scenario is CJ and it's not close. Second scenario, my primary preference is neither. If I absolutely had to sign one of the two at that cost, probably CJ because he's young enough to be traded 2-3 years into the deal, Buehrle probably isn't.

Cardinals Trying To Trade Kyle Lohse

By Tim Dierkes [December 6 at 3:49pm CST]

3:49pm: The Cardinals are willing to trade Jake Westbrook as well, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

3:34pm: The Cardinals are trying to trade righty Kyle Lohse, reports Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune. Rogers believes their goal is to make room for Missouri native Mark Buehrle. ESPN's Buster Olney also hears that the Cardinals are making Lohse's availability known.

Lohse, 33, is owed $11.875MM in 2012 and has a full no-trade clause. As of Monday night, nothing had been brought to Lohse's attention, according to MLB.com's Matthew Leach. The righty posted a 3.39 ERA in 188 1/3 innings this year.

Leach notes that Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said he's not prioritizing starting pitching, and if he needed rotation help it'd likely come from within.

Buehrle has always been very vocal about his desire to play for the Cardinals. My bet is that he'll either sign with them for a home town discount or at least won't sign anywhere else until the Cardinals have decided whether or not they can sign him. I also have to assume that the Cards are going to wait until the Pujols situation is fully resolved. If they lose him I could definitely see them getting Buehrle and working on a trade for Lohse or Westbbrook later on and signing a bat like like Pena, Willingham, Cuddyer, or Kotchman plus a big name closer.
