Bruce & Kap's source apparently misread the situation. Rather worrisome.

 

Bruce ripped the Red Sox for not behaving like adults & being too caught up with damage control to negotiate in good faith.

That has to be the case. There is no logical explanation for what is happening if Theo already told them he'd only stay for one more year anyway. They aren't getting Theo back no matter what happens. They will either pay him to look out the window or watch him in Chicago. It looks like they are opting for the former. I guess that's what happens when you have so much money you don't know where to put it all.

 

I wonder what Theo is thinking.

Me too. Do you think he's intimately involved in the negotiations at this point? I imagine it's really important to the Ricketts that he approves the talent that's leaving in order for him to come. Maybe Epstein himself is the huge sticking point, as the attractiveness of the job goes significantly down if lose our #2 prospect.
