There are a lot of teams that have gotten off to great starts this year. I think 4-1-2 was somewhat decent, but look at these:

Washington 7-0-0

Dallas 6-2-0

Colorado 6-2-0

Toronto 5-1-1

Los Angeles 5-1-1

Detroit 5-1-0

Buffalo 5-2-0

We started practice today by practicing shootouts.

Hopefully we never see Stalberg in the skills competition again. The lineup should be Toews, Kane, Hossa/Sharp. What's so difficult about that?

If they spent more than 5 minutes on shootouts, it's a waste of time of legendary proportions.

Maybe work on the defense that allows 3 guys to cover one and a guy to have a breakaway from blue line with less than 2 minutes left.

I get to go to my first Blackhawks game tomorrow. I'm really excited.

First hockey game? If so, Hockey is probably the best sport to attend live.

First NHL game. I've been to a few minor league games. I'm super stoked.

Are you sitting close? It's so much quicker up close than in the 300 level, but the 300 level is still enormously enjoyable.

When you are outside the UC on the way in, look for a guy close to the entrance selling the Committed Indian for like $3. Its like a little 8.5x11 booklet printed for every game (or is it every other week, I can't remember) and it gives a unique take on the team, statistics, the opponent, etc. It's what all the cool hockey fans do.

I'm not too concerned about other teams right now because it is way too early and the schedules are very imbalanced to this point. And I don't care about the East at all, of course. The important thing is to not dig the team into a hole, and to sustain a high enough ppg to make the playoffs/win the division.

The Hawks are on a 117 point pace -- and that's enough to fit my criteria.

Does anyone know if the UC can scan the ticket from your phone, a la the airport? Or do I need to print?

I haven't seen that done yet at a sporting event, although I'm sure it's possible somewhere.

You'll have a blast. I'll be in the 100 level for the game on Halloween against the Preds. It'll be the first time I'm downstairs for a Hawks game in a very long time.

We were doing such a good job of killing the penalty and then in the blink of an eye they strike. Sucks to look so good in the first and now trail.

Wow what a shot and pass. Crawford seemed way too deep in the crease on that shot. Couldn't take away the angle at all from there.

For those that didn't see it, Kane was coming down the right side of the zone and being closely guarded by a Duck, so Kane did a spin-o-rama move to get free and in one motion passed across the crease to Hossa for a tap in. Looked much better than I described it.
