White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has long been rumored to be on the wish list of the Florida Marlins, especially now as they look for a fresh start heading into a new stadium for 2012. Earlier Monday night, Guillen had a colorful session with media before the White Sox hosted the Blue Jays. Now, a rumor has surfaced that Guillen is headed to the Marlins. Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting the White Sox are in talks with the Marlins to send Guillen to Miami -- citing "multiple sources." In fact, Cowley reports Monday night's game will be Guillen's last with the White Sox -- who still have two games remaining in the season.

 

Further, ESPN Chicago reports that Guillen told his players Monday was his final game.

it's not the first time. Remember Lou Piniella to Tampa Bay?

 

Hell there were rumors about Guillen being traded to the Marlins last season. I think Mike Stanton was the name rumored to go to Chicago.

That was last offseason. No GM in their right mind would trade a talent like Stanton or Morrison for 1 year of a manager, whose had a very up and down stint with his last team. They say anything the White Sox get will be relatively minor.

Anyone who thinks that a team would get any player of value for 1 year of a questionable manager is also out of their [expletive] mind.

Wasn't Ozzie on the staff of that 2003 Marlins team? I think I remember some controversy over him making the "choke" signal to fans after Game 6.

yeah, he was their third base coach. i hope he steps on a land mine.
