Baez out of Boises lineup for the 2nd straight game after being pulled Thursday night. I wish there was some kind of updates on he and Szczur.

There is like less than a week left in those seasons, as long as they aren't having major surgeries, who cares?

Boise cruises into the playoffs with an 8-2 win. This game decided if they'd make it, and they showed up to play. Golden even hit his 7th HR, which is something like his 4th in 5 or 6 days. Nice to see, even if Baez was out again. And who is Sandoval, the pitcher who started the game?

yeah 4th in 6 games. nice to see him starting to show the power in game situations... he hasn't been great, but for a raw talent out of an alabama high school, i'm reasonably happy with what he's shown with boise.

jensen struggled - allowed a hit, 2 walks and 3 wild pitches in 0.2 ip.

i don't know much about sandoval, but he's 23, so it's hard to get excited about him.

ugh mcnutt terrible again

Don't worry, I have it on good authority that the Cubs are awesome at developing pitchers under Fleita.

So now that Hendry is gone I guess Fleita is the new scapegoat.

DAMN YOU FLEITA FOR RUINING MCNUTT! THANK GOD ARCHER GOT OUT BEFORE YOU COULD DESTROY HIS CAREER AS WELL!

Randy Wells and Rich Hill are the only starting pitchers Fleita has produced in, what, 7 years? And Hill had a really brief run. Not exactly something to hang your hat on.

If you've paid any attention to what I've said over the past, oh, five years or so, you'll know that my desire to move on from Fleita is nothing new.

I lawl'd.

Word around the water cooler is that Hendry/Fleita/gang actually told Archer it was fine to walk as many hitters as he does. Of course, they told/tell the hitters walks are bad very bad.

Nolasco and Zambrano...well I guess Zambrano is 8 years ago.

Is that really Fleita's fault or the organizations fault for not allowing Wilken or Fleita to spend any money on the draft until this year? It will be interesting to see how the new amateur signings turn out from this year's draft.

Also, I could be wrong, but it seemed that since hiring Wilken the team has shied away from going heavily after high risk/high reward pitching prospects in the draft.

So you're going to rest your case on a guy the Cubs didn't bring to the majors and someone Fleita scouted, but wasn't in charge of developing?

Come on, Zambrano was already in the big leagues when Fleita was in charge of the farm system.

How should he be involved with the development? The guy isn't a coach, that's not his role.

Well let's see, he's the director of player development so it all starts with him. You don't think he has a say as far as coaching philosophies?

Alberto Mineo finished with a .270/.333/.338/.671 line in 71 at bats at the MLBAAP.

2 doubles, 1 HR, 8/12 BB/K, 3 errors.

Dont forget Cashner. There's also Casey Coleman to anyone who takes him seriously as a big league starter.

I liked what I saw of Sandoval. A very nice fastball. Good control. But he needs to work on his secondary stuff. Otherwise he is destined for the pen. Does anyone know if he is a converted position player? Could account for his age at this level.

Edit: Just checked his stats. According to MILB, he has pitched for two years. 2010 in the DSL (only 8 games) and this year in Arizona and Boise where he put up decent stats. Maybe he was converted.

Golden looked really bad at the plate the first three games that I saw him, but when he hit his homerun...wow. That was the start of this latest homerun binge. I hope he has figured out how to counter how they were pitching him.

It start with ownership and for a sizable chunk last decade ownership had one goal.

Do you really believe that coaching philosophy is set in stone all around? Wouldn't a modern organization individualize coaching and focus on what the player can do as well as can't/isn't?
