Those two could easily be the best in the NFC. At the very least tonight did little to indicate they weren't.

Uhhh...neither defense looked like the best in the NFC, that's for sure.

Certainly the Saints didn't make a very good case for their defense.

Of that much, there can be no argument.

Once again though, it's hard to judge the defenses when two of the best QB's in the game are involved.

That was [expletive] ridiculous. That was full blown Cub-mode at the end of that one.

what? they won, right?

Packers fans can never be satisfied. Remember back when Rodgers missed 1 game due to a concussion, and their fans were whining about how unfair it was that he got concussed

God Dammit. Great pickup that Ingram. Touted as the guy to solve the Saints goal line issues, gets stuffed several times during the game, makes Payton pass on 4th and 1 from the 7 that completely changes the game, and then gets stuffed on the final play of the game from 1 yard out. I realize it was more the Saints blocking and Packers D on that particular play but still. Not very impressive at all.

Packers lucked out. Offense won't be that good every week and if their D plays like this they aren't gonna win the division much less the Super Bowl.

Yes I'm bitter.

How about complaining to Sean Payton for calling that play? Ingram didn't have a prayer on that play.

I would have called that play if I was Payton. If he calls a pass and it ends up like the 4th down earlier in the game, he is crucified for the play call. If you are an NFL team and you want to beat the douchebag champions, you have to be able to run it in from 1 yard out.

I disagree. You have your best player try to make the play in that situation. We couldn't stop the pass at all in that one, so you take that element away? Whatever, I'm not complaining about it.

Losing Tramon on that last drive really sucked. and that BS PI call in the endzone was terrible. But GB did a horrible job tackling tonight and the secondary was shaky at times. Some of it has to be credit to the Saints however. Brees is a great QB and if you don't get enough pressure on him he will make you pay. Never fun blowing a 15 pt lead late in the 4th but a win is a win. Hopefully Tramon isn't out for long. Completely different team with him out. Rodgers looked great, Cobb looked unreal.

Crazy Game, 1-0. Onto Carolina next week.

if williams is out for any period of time the secondary could be in trouble.

Agreed. Anytime you lose your best cover corner back your going to be in trouble, especially if that means Jarrett Bush see's the field. It will take away a lot of the blitzing Green Bay does. Hopefully he is not out long.

I don't think that you're allowed to try to jump through a receiver, even if he's little.

Glad to be 1-0. McCarthy is a great coach, but I am very disappointed to see the same mistakes being made that made a 13- or 14-win team in 2010 a 10-win team. Stop taking the ball out of Rodgers' hands with a 2-score lead. Don't unsuccessfully run-out the clock early in the 4th when your offense has been basically unstoppable. Even if you go down and get just a field goal it's an 18-point game. Rodgers was only given the chance by McCarthy to run the offense for two series in the second half. One was a 3-and-out and the other resulted in a TD. Give him the rock. Brees had many more series (5, 6, 7, ?) to try to score in the second half. It's never a good idea to give the other team many more chances than you give your own just because you have a 2-score lead. Also, work on special teams coverage. It's aggravating that the same two major issues from last season nearly cost the Packers a win tonight.

He jumped over him and made contact with the ball before he made contact with the WR. I don't think that's pass interference.

Don't forget that brutal touchback call. Saints should have started on their own 1 for that last drive.

The way they described it on TD that was the right call.

He clearly hit Sproles before the ball was even close. Good thing he did, because otherwise it's a TD.

I should watch it again though, because I'm very drunk.

I watched it before I responded to you so I wouldn't be wrong lol. But it was close but he did make contact with the ball first.

Looked to me like he jumped over Sproles and reached over his shoulders to bat the ball down, then landed on him coming down.

So sliding is allowed when you're trying to down a ball? How does that make sense?

I'm not sure but since in the NFL, if you are on offense, you aren't down if you aren't touched. Plus if you illegally touch the ball and it bounces behind you, the ball is spotted where it goes behind you, not where you touched it so it makes sense to me. It's a moot point now though.

Whatever the call, the Saints were absolutely dominated at the line. Everyone knew what the play was, and Ingram had no chance. No RB would've made it in.

And not that it prevented him from scoring, but did anyone else think Ingram was facemasked badly on the play? It looked like it to me. What a call that would've been.

edit: actually, looked at it in slo mo. Was the shoulder, not the facemask.
