Hitting someone with a ball, on purpose, is stupid. I don't care how long it's been going on. It's no different than fighting in hockey, it's an unnecessary, moronic thing to do that accomplishes nothing other than giving some guy a puffed out chest for "taking care of his teammates". Dumb.

This is an oversimplification, and wrong.

Oversimplification, probably. How is it wrong though? There is nothing good accomplished by drilling people, which was my point.

It would be dumb to do it too much. Just like it would be dumb to IBB too many guys, or dumb to always throw a strike. But there's nothing wrong with the occasional purposeful bean ball. It's a bad thing to go head hunting, but it's not dumb to occasionally hit an opposing hitter. If nobody else ever did it, then fine, no reason to ever do it. But that's not the case.

And your comment about hockey fights is even more simplistic and wrong than the baseball comments.

Awe damn you done brought the hockey folk up in here

I love hockey, but the fighting is stupid.

The argument has been made that allowing fighting keeps hockey safer. Maybe you knew that.

I know there is that arguement, but it's wrong.

I disagree. I don't care if it's done once every ten years, there is no good place in baseball for beanballs.

And my thoughts on fighting in hockey isn't wrong. It might be different than your views on it, but it isn't wrong. There's no place for it. I'd enjoy hockey even more if it was removed from the game, completely. Of course, that would require a change in attitude in the players, predominantly the North Americans. But if it's enforced at the lower levels, they'll learn it from an earlier age and not think it's a part of the game by the time they hit the NHL. That's really the only part of the NHL I don't like.

Do you follow college hockey? Seems like you'd enjoy it.

Fine, if it's alright for a pitcher to occasionally drill a batter in the ribs then it's okay for a batter to occasionally take a bat to the pitcher. I mean fair is fair right? It's absolutely idiotic to put a guys health and career on the line for these stupid reasons.

Um, they're stealing signs (allegedly).

Yes, allegedly. That's what makes the pitcher in question a lunatic. Before popping off about throwing at someone's [expletive] head, you should probably use some common sense.

But it's not "allegedly" in the White Sox' mind. They know what they saw and are 100% convinced it's happening.

This "lunatic" you speak of confronted the player verbally, and told him to cut it out or else.

What would have been the common-sense response?

I realize it's not even close to being the same thing, but do you think what Hitler did was okay? Because he was 100% convinced it was the right thing to do.

Just because one person is 100% convinced something is happening doesn't mean he's right about it.

Also, you trying to trying to rationalize that threatening to throw at someone's head is okay is utterly ridiculous.

Operative word -- threatening. It's an idle threat.

He could have said, "do it again AND I'LL KILL YOU!!!". Same diff. Neither is actually going to happen, so quit taking it literally.
