might not sound that noteworthy, but when he singled in the brewers' win on friday night, he broke an 0-for-45 streak. it was his first hit in 57 days. if he'd gone one more AB without a hit, he would have tied the record for longest streak, held by bill bergen, probably the worst baseball player in history.

makes you wonder why a team like Milwaukee who is in contention keeps him around....of course it reminds me of the Cubs keeping Lenny Harris around for so long in 2003

Didn't keep him around long enough. If we had kept him all year maybe we wouldn't have chose to pitch to Mike Lowell.

The crazy thing was, the article I saw said he only had five strikeouts during that streak. 0-for-40 on balls in play.

 

When all you're capable of doing is hitting the ball on the ground softly, and you have no speed anymore, you're not going to get many hits. That said, 0-40 on balls in play is seriously unlucky.
