The part about Koyie Hill must have been written by an NSBBer.

Possible Return: You’d think the answer here would be nothing. But, with catching at a premium, and Hill’s apparent ability to secure and exploit naked pictures management, I wouldn’t be surprised if he could net a C prospect with a tiny chance of upside.

Sean Marshall

Age and Contract: Turns 29 in August; 2011 – $1.6 million, 2012 – $3.1 million.

Stats: All-Star-like 2.29 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 39.1 innings. Has struck out 40, and he’s been as effective against righties as he has against lefties.

Cubs’ Desire to Trade Him: Low.

Possible Return: Probably less than he’s worth. Marshall is cheap, lefty, relatively young and wildly effective. But, because he’s a mere “setup man,” the return for him would likely be less than if he were a “closer.” It’s the silly world of labels in which we live. As it stands, Marshall could probably net one top 100 type prospect. Unless the Cubs could get more, it’s just not worth trading him.

Top 100 is a broad spectrum. Depending on which end of the Top 100 were talking, that could very well be worth it. I highly doubt we could get a top 25 guy, but if we could get someone in the top 26-50, Id definitely listen, maybe even top 75.

If guys like Belevieu, Rhoderick, Dolis, and Batista are the real deal, and Carpenter and Shark can keep doing what theyve done for the most part, we could have a decent crop of back of the pen guys to go along with Marmol.

I'd be much more interested in taking advantage of the saves Marmol has collected, deal him and move Marshall into the closer's role. Then, once he's built a higher value than he should have, deal him as well.

Sounds like a solid plan to me. But I'm sure there's no way it happens like that.

I would think that when somebody mentions a top 100 prospect, it probably means someone in the 76-100 range. If the prospect was 26-50, they would have said top 50.

Most likely not. It'd be the best plan, though.

per mlbtr:

The Angels appear to be the team most interested in Aramis Ramirez, though Cafardo names the Mariners, Giants, Braves, and D'Backs as other clubs who could look into the Cubs' third baseman. Of course, Ramirez's agent said earlier this week that his client likely won't waive his no-trade clause, so inquires may be futile.

I love Rammy and believe the Cubs could use him next year but if he will at all waive in NTC i think the Cubs would bring in a lot of talent for him. Seattle would really interest me if you could get 2 of Liddi, Walker, and Franklin back.
