Kyung-Min Na and Cam Greathouse demoted from Peoria to Boise.

More transactions:

Jose Guevara and Kenny Soccoro to Boise from Mesa.

Carlos Romero and Vismeldy BIeneme (injured) to Mesa from Boise.

DJ Fitzgerald released.

An outfield from left to right of Chen, Na and Golden should really be able to cover some ground.

Jay Jackson allowed back-to-back singles, got an out on what appears to be a double steal, allowed back-to back doubles, and then has settled down to retire the next 5 batters he's faced including 2 K's. Fernando Perez led off the game with a double, and Colvin hit a HR the next AB to tie the game at 2-2.

In case anyones wondering, Jackson went back to being bad as hes given up 5 ER on 9 hits through 3.

Something is clearly wrong. A guy doesn't go from very good to on the verge of release unless something is very wrong.

Wells hit a wall in the 5th after getting the first guy to strike out. Both BBs came in the 5th but before then, he was spotting both his FB and splitter in the zone very well per the Boise PBP guy. He even dropped a few nice changes including one that looked like a K to end the 3rd. Wells' final line - 4.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 6-4 GO-FO

Solid pro debut for Smith down in Mesa - 3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 4-1 GO-FO. Marco Hernandez and Gioskar Amaya both have a double on the night for their first stateside XBH.

.....I didn't notice that Antigua is apparently a reliever now. Why?

Has been all season. In fact, he was pretty bad at Peoria, was demoted to extended and finally came up to Daytona where he's rebounded.

I was as big a fan as Jay as anyone out there, but it's possible that the main issue is that he simply never adjusted and developed, and his flaws were always issues that could get him potentially exposed in PCL ball. I haven't heard anything suggesting that the velocity is lower than before. If someone has, let me know, but last I heard, he was still running it in the low 90's, which is pretty much where he's sat most of his career in our system. But while his arm action was fairly clean, his body action was always in need of work, as he was more of a thrower who didn't get his body into it. His slider flashed potential in the lower levels, but it seems to have stalled out.

I honestly wonder how much of it is a confidence or concentration issue, he seems to be very streaky to me. He has yet again recovered tonight and put up a line of 6IP 9H 5ER 5K/2BB and even with all his troubles he's only thrown 95 pitches.

delbis arcila (18 years old) seems like a guy worth keeping an eye on. he hit his second and third HR's for DSL Cubs 2, has 10 XBH's in 16 games and showed a patient eye both last year and this year.

I found this from AzPhil on Arcila from the fall instructs:

Arcila has below average speed and a below average arm. He has a line drive stroke with solid plate discipline for his age. He'll probably wind up in LF or at 1B, assuming he starts to hit for some power. Since he's only 17, he definitely has time to develop.

Sounds like he's hopefully adding strength as he matures. According to BR he's played 1B, CF, and RF this year.

The guy was flat out dominating the PCL a year ago. It seriously seems like they moved the walls in on all the PCL parks by 100 feet. It's not just with Jackson. The PCL is always supposed to be a hitters dream, but this is ridiculous.

Daytona News-Journal[/url]"]Bour pulled a three-run double down the right-field line in the third inning and scored from first in the fifth inning to lead Daytona to a 6-3 victory over the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

"I looked for a pitch inside," said Bour, who finished the first half tied with Dunedin's Brad Glenn with 16 home runs, two behind Brevard County's Brock Kjeldgaard. "I looked for it, got it and kind of reacted to it and got the result that I wanted."

...

"I'm finally starting to get my breaking ball across for a strike," Lorick said. "I was doing it back when I was a reliever, but hadn't been doing it as a starter and was able to do it (Wednesday)."
