Any chance they think working with Riggins will help with his control? I'm grasping at straws here to find the reasoning. He needs some regular work, but I'm not too concerned if we are talking about maybe two weeks on the ML roster. I'd hate to see him sit at the end of the bullpen for two months though.

I really think that the only reasoning is that the other options have sucked. Wood, Marshall, Marmol has a great big back end. Sharks been pretty good. Grabow hasnt been awful at times and Russell is an OK spare. Everyone else weve tried has been bad or awful. Gooz might be back in the next month, at which point, we'll see what happens, although Id prefer keep Carpenter after that and try to trade Grabow. We only need 2 lefties in the pen.

fixed.

Anyone else notice his increased plumpiness?

carpenter has a legitimate big-league arm, which makes him better than the usual dregs that we trot out there (berg, stevens, etc). he may lack command right now, but he can miss bats.

Sounds somewhat like Samardzjia. everyone said if he could have control without throwing em straight down the middle, hed be very effective. The same may end up being true for Carpenter.

Does this move signal the fact that they don't think to highly of CC...?

I am assuming you are referring to Casey Coleman? Either That or you think the Cubs don't think too highly of Chris Carpenter and want to see him fail?
