I hope this is close to the right spot if not sorry. Was at the I Cubs game tonight, Reed got hit in the head with a 90+ mph fastball. He was down for a minute, walked off under his own power but had a welt and gash on his left eyebrow. Edited by Andrew'11

Welcome to the forum!

Though I wish you had better news.

Sounds like he'll be looked at again today, and, if he passes concussion tests and the like, he'll be activated tomorrow or Wednesday.

Welcome back Reed! That's a great way to come back after that shot on Saturday night. Sounded a lot worse than it was i guess.

What has gotten into Reed Johnson this year? OPSing 1.075 in 69 ABs, including a 1.119 OPS against righties while having an extraordinary amount of RBIs with 21.

Small sample size of course, but can't say I saw this coming from a guy that most people, including myself, thought was done. He's already passed his HR and RBI totals from last year in 1/3 of the ABs.

A .407 BABIP with a 17.9 LD% probably helps. As long as his playing time stays somewhat limited, though, those numbers might not even out.

He's been outstanding against lefties and WAY better than usual against righties. Quade has, for the most part, been putting him in position to succeed. His use (and lack of overuse) of Baker and Johnson has been pretty good.

Reed (and Baker) are the type of guys that are perfect to have around if your starters are above average (and, ideally, left handed, like Edmonds in 08).
