Highlights of what I just listened to on the radio..WEEI just reported deals is basically done only compensation left. Permission to talk was apparently giving last Friday. Talks progressed Quickly 5 years 15 million. Will be done by weekend but probably sooner. That's what WEEI is saying this morning.
There is an article on this mornings Boston Herald website sport s section by Gerry Callahan called "Writing on wall for Red Sox to Sack Chicago Bound Epstein" unfortunately I can't post the link from my phone. Can someone please post the link and make up for my lack of phone skills
Is it possible they are waiting to make any announcement because there are two game 5's tonight and they dont want it to detract from the playoffs? I could be wrong but I seem to remember when A-Rod signed his last contract, they announced it during a similar situation and they caught a lot of flak for it.
Im starting to think that the Red Sox stats computer "Carmine" has becom self aware and has decided to start messing with everyone. Maybe this will all be settled by Monday or Tuesday. :beg:
After they started taking calls one of the hosts cited one of a his infamous "baseball sources" that said the Cubs would be offering Epstein 5-6 million to come to Chicago and that was well over what the Sox were willing to pay. I can't remember if that was already discussed here but it was mentioned on the show this morning that's the reason I posted it.
I hope this is close to the right spot if not sorry. Was at the I Cubs game tonight, Reed got hit in the head with a 90+ mph fastball. He was down for a minute, walked off under his own power but had a welt and gash on his left eyebrow.
