Think we have injuries?

Take a look at the Twins DL:

Joe Mauer

Jim Thome

Jason Kubel

Tsuyshi Nishioka

Francisco Liriano'

Kevin Slowey

Joe Nathan

Glen Perkins

Thats 4 starting position players, their #1 starter, and their closer. No wonder they're so awful.

also:

Michael Cuddyers banged up

Justin Morneaus .242/.299/.361/.659 line suggests that he may well not be fully recovered from his consussion.

Carl Pavanos seemingly turning back into Carl Pavano

It's interesting that injuries can be used as an excuse for the Twins, but not the Cubs.

The Twins won 94 games last year. We won 75.

And we're 5.5 games in front of them.

My point is that injuries are a valid excuse for the Twins not meeting expectations (contending in the AL Central) and it should be an excuse for the Cubs not meeting their expectations (borderline .500 team).

Nobodies going to deny that injuries aren't a huge reason for the Cubs being where they are. However, you summed it up yourself, injuries are preventing the Cubs from being a borderline .500 team whereas they're preventing the Twins from being a strong contender, if not the favorite in their division.

When are the Twins going to move Mauer of off Catcher to a less physically demanding position like 3B/LF/RF?

When they're ready to decrease his value to the team.

He is a career .885 OPS hitter. He would have great value wherever he went. And this year he would actually have a higher value has a 3rd baseman.

Just because he'd be valuable anywhere doesn't mean it's ok to devalue him.

your right he is an incredible catcher but they have another nice catcher in the wings. If they want him to last then they will move him. Hes only 28 but this will be his second season missing 50 games or more that doesnt bode well for the future. Ideally they move him and he produces more consistent power with less demand on his body. Obviously I would like him at 3rd base or the outfield given the way that the twins are constructed.

On the flip side he just got that contract so he probably wont move for at least another year.
