DJ Lemahieu being called up?

I'd hate to see LeMahieu called up to sit on the bench. If he's being brought up as an injury replacement for Baker, it seems like ABs would be sporadic and it's hard to see them benching Barney for him after Barney's start.

I'd think Flaherty would be by far the better choice. Older, hits for more power, and has played literally all over the field so he'd be more likely to get enough PT to make it worthwhile.

 

Could it be that Gibbs and Szczur were misinformed and DJ was actually called up to Iowa, because that would make more sense.

I'd be pretty disappointed with this personally. DJ has torn it up in AA this year, but unless he's getting fulltime at bats, I don't see the point here. Reward? Give it to him at the end of the season with a September callup. Otherwise, bring up someone else, unless you're giving him starter's at bats.

 

Flaherty seems like the most logical choice(as mentioned earlier). He's more of a utility type, has more pop and the organization appears to already consider him a "utility" guy as well(based on Cubs Convention comments).

 

I have really warned to LeMahieu as a longterm answer for us at 2B(assuming he doesn't outgrow it). I like Flaherty too, but considering he's older, has more pop, and probably isn't thought of as a long term answer at any certain position, I'd be all for giving him this callup instead. Because as much as we all expect Barney to slump, he's done a solid job to date, and is undeserving of getting benched at this time.

What is the corresponding move? ARAM to the DL? If Lemahieu gets called up he better be starting at 3B or else it doesn't make any sense.
