It shouldn't be hard for a team like that to get a few good MLEs, a la the 2004 Lakers with Karl Malone and Gary Payton (they weren't both MLEs but they took drastic pay cuts to play with Shaq and Kobe).

maybe. malone is a huge anomaly in that he hadn't won a title at age 90 and was still productive. i mean, who were the good players taking less money to win championships the last couple of years? washed-up shaq? ron artest?

and i maintain that there really isn't that much that can be done to improve a team that already has three primary scorers. if they want to get better it will be to sign a big man who can defend and rebound.

The most disappointing thing about this series is the fact that Rose has managed to make his MVP season look horrible. He cant sink a shot outside of a dunk/layup. I just hope this wont damage his psyche.

I doubt it. He missed a FT that cost an NCAA championship and his psyche wasn't damaged.

If a shooter is what the Bulls need right now, Bogans should get at least 30 minutes a game going forward, unless Korver gets hot.

But a shooter isn't what they need. They need someone else who can create with the ball in his hands.

Nobody is talking about [expletive] Bogans when they say the Bulls need a shooter.

Well I hate to break it to you, but Kieth ended the season at 38% from 3 and is shooting 45% from 3 from the playoffs. One would think that would be effective if thats all you needed from your SG. The problem is that Kieth can't do anything else.

Hence why everyone's been saying the Bulls' most glaring need is a quality #2 guard.

Really. Can you remember another MVP year where the winner has had a worse playoff series loss?

Didn't Dirk lose in the first round to an 8 seed?

Ok so saying you'd rather have Rose over Lebron is silly.

But doesn't anyone wanna root for our guy? He's taking his lumps. Everyone has had to. The only wing players that haven't happened to play with Shaq or Kareem. [expletive] it man. I wanna win with our guys.

And I know I'm the biggest Rose stan on this board but let's keep in mind he's still the same age as MICHAEL [expletive] JORDAN was as a rookie in the NBA. He's ahead of schedule folks.

Get OJ or JR and hope the new CBA hamstrings Miami and let's wreck [expletive].

And I've been screaming about this all series...let's run a zillion PnRs while Bibby/Chalmers are covering Rose but go ISO when he has Lebron James on him?

what the [expletive] thibs?

Jordan didn't win a title until his 7th season. If the internet existed, I'm guessing you'd have seen similar discussions about how the Bulls just couldn't get past the mighty Pistons.

Sure. He's also the same age LeBron was when he averaged 25/8/8 in the playoffs and dragged a team featuring LARRY HUGHES as its second-best player to the NBA Finals.

The most glaring need of that glaring need is the shooting ability of the #2 guard. It needs to be an all-around player who can make plays, but primarily he needs to be a shooter. That's just painfully obvious.

I know he isn't saying it is affecting him, but do you think his Rose's ankle is still bothering him at all? Also, what about boozer's foot? I'm not allowed to watch the playoffs because of a ban placed upon me back in the mid-90's. Every playoff game I watched, the Bulls lost, so I try to stay as far away from the TV as possible.

With that being said, I can't actually SEE if it looks like his ankle is bothering him at all. Is he getting the same quick 1st, 2nd, 3rd steps on guys or does he look somewhat mortal in his quickness?

Jamal Crawford would be a perfect compliment to Rose. Really, any of those options sound terrific to me.

He's speed looks fine. He's just running into walls of players off of crappy screens.

And since we don't have players hitting outside shots with any consistency, it's much, much easier for the defenders to come off their man to help on Rose. Korver's slump couldn't have possibly come at a worse time.

I know it's not time for the postmortem quite yet, but even though LeBron is LeBron, Omer will get better, Taj will get better, Derrick will get better, Thibs will get better and who knows what moves they'll be able to make. This isn't an Indiana or New York during the 90's situation.

I'm not sure one is above either. I mean Jamal Crawford shot a rather pedestrian (for "shooter" standards) 3pt% of 34% (35% career) from 3, but with his playmaking ability and mid range ability, he is my top choice of Free Agents available.

Then looking at a guy like Arron Afflalo, who is a tremendous shooter, particularly from 3, but is pretty much strictly a spot up guy. Hoopdata says 100% of his threes were assisted. 74% from 16-23. Compare that to 80% and 33% for Crawford. Now Afflalo also provides much better d, so they're pretty equal. If they were both UFA I'd actually stuggle who to choose, but with Afflalo being RFA, he isn't realistic to obtain. But either way that 8% difference in 3pt% and better defense is somewhat negated by Jamal's ability to create.

So while I do feel there are some basic shooting standards we need from our SG (so eliminate a Andre Iguodala type), the ability to create is just as important. Defense would be nice too considering we will be facing the top 2 wing players in the game for the next 5 years, but overall scheme including frontcourt defense, will be just as important in that regards.
