Regarding Wells, am I wrong in thinking forearm injuries to pitchers are often precursors to Tommy John being next?

It can, yes. However, considering Wells' repertoire and background, I'd have to think that he's at a lower risk than many others for that being the case.

I was hoping this was April 1 and was a joke, but I can see it's not. Are you kidding me? Cashner is not a shocker, but Wells???????? Was he helping a buddy move or something? OMG

man, [expletive] this season already

At least they're kicking me in the nuts while the Bulls are still doing well, so I can be easily distracted.

What was the pitching order in Iowa? Can they get each of these guys a start before calling them up?

Iowa wasn't scheduled to start until tomorrow. Coleman will probably throw some sort of limited outing/side session in prep for his start on Sunday. If the other pitcher is getting called up from Iowa, they can start in Iowa tomorrow to be ready for their start in the majors on Tuesday.

Diamond is scheduled to start for Iowa tomorrow.

This is often the first sign of injury when elbow issues are going to occur.

Yea thats what I meant, I just worded it poorly.

I can't believe this is happening before the first week of the season is officially on the books.

Better now than later in the season.

Yeah, but we don't really know the true extent of these injuries.

Still better now than later. If they end up needing surgery wouldn't rather they have it ASAP instead of late in the season and then the recovery cuts into (or further into) whenever they can come back?

I can sense this being a Prior + Wood saga. When are they coming back? Aren't they supposed to be shutdown and re-evaluated in 15 days? That doesn't sound like the Cubs are even remotely expecting either to be ready to start a Major League game in 15 days. The Cubs are probably preparing for at least a month without them - especially in Cashner's case.
