What a weird article. Why center it around Millar when Millar himself says this:

"I didn't get a chance to play with Lou, but I mean, there definitely was something missing," Millar said

Why not make the headline around Soriano, who is also critical of Lou in the article, actually played under the guy for several seasons and is still on the Cubs?

I don't doubt that it hurt the team, but really Soriano? You want to play harder because you know the lineup? I mean...I can see you being more prepared knowing the lineups, but I don't understand the "want to play harder" part...

Maybe English is his second language and that was his implication.

yep, best for a guy making 18 million dollars a year, providing about 8 million dollars a year worth of utility to refrain from making comments about 'wanting to play harder' for his new manager. I'm pleased that guys seemingly are more comfortable with Quade though.

He said that Lou promised to let players know when they were playing in advance, but didn't end up doing it. The fact that Quade does let players know makes him want to play hard for Quade.

Didn't think it was that ridiculous...

If a manager's people want something dumb which will make them give more effort and giving them what they want is not detrimental to the organization, only a dopey manager would choose not to give it to them.

"But there was something missing. Guys were talking about it and the whispers and that's the stuff that brings down a club." Millar said.

"I mean you want to talk baseball, you want to talk how you're going to beat this guy today. You want to go out there and root each other on. You don't want to worry about why this isn't going on, what's he doing here, what's this going on and that's the simple thing of a line up, get it up. It should be up there at 7:30 in the morning. Guys have to prepare. This is the major leagues, and that's what people forget. You have to prepare, there has to be a mind set -- period."

Somebody needs to tell Millar that none of this intangible team chemistry crap matters in baseball. Nobody struck out or dropped a popup because the lineup wasn't posted early enough.

Hes making an ill advised 18 million dollars a season. Play hard.

It seems like you're being sarcastic, but then I'm not sure since your second sentence is 110% true.

The problem, of course, is that you and others seem to believe the second sentence proves the first.

Butterfly effect, man.

Post the lineup 1 second too late and it changes everything. Who is to say it hasn't caused a strikeout or a dropped pop fly'?

That's a weird and incorrect thing to say.

Nobody struck out or dropped a popup because the lineup wasn't posted early enough, therefore none of this intangible team chemistry crap matters in baseball.

Agree or disagree?

Those are separate points, silly.

So Kevin Millar and Alfonso Soriano really need to pay attention to what you have to say about what does and doesn't impact players' and teams' performance in MLB then? Since you know better than them.

I think an article posting of a sad little four year old's single vanilla scoop tumbling to the ground during her first visit to Wrigley could sprout the same head banging discussion.
