well yeah he's 21 years old, i can't think of any 21 year old athletes that struggled with consistency but later improved.

Ugh, I unfortunately heard that interview on the way in to work this morning. That article leaves out the best stuff, namely that he thinks Darwin should be leading off and starting full time at 2B. Actually, he wants the Cubs' 1-3 to go Darwin/Byrd/Castro right now.

No, he won't, but that wasn't the horrible part of the suggestion. It was batting Darwin and Byrd 1-2 on a team where Fukudome, Soto and Castro exist.

 

But it's extremely unlikely that Castro will end up the Cubs' #3 hitter. He projects ideally to be an awesome #2.

I dont know about Soto being a 1 or 2. I know he has the obp but he seems better suited in the middle of the lineup protecting aramis or pena.

 

As for Stone, I really think he is just stirring the pot. The score pays him to be controversial so everything he says about the cubs is. no reason to get riled up. Omar vizquel had 20 errors as a rookie, castro will be fine.

Stone is an interesting case.

 

He could truly be off his rocker, even though in the Harry Caray days, his analysis used to be pretty sharp.

He could be genuinely filled with spite and hatred for the Cubs.

He could be swept up in the current media trend of standing out from the crowd by being intentionally edgy and controversial, no matter how irrational and logic-defying this requires one to be. See also Jay Mariotti, Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, etc.

 

Like Howard Stern taught us decades ago, the more people hate you the higher your ratings climb.
