you were the one pimping bishop as one of the very best players in the league at his position and then mention the loss of barnett as a bad thing.

well done

the 3-4 uses more than 1 ILB...

lets see:

Jarrod Mayo

James Harrison

Brady James

Bart Scott

Patrick Willis

Ray Lewis

What do they have in common? All better then the so called "among the best in the league" Bishop.

Thats why its so quiet. I had forgotten erik was banhammered.

Please tell me its not forever

Depends on who wins on Sunday.

I'm surprised it didn't get extended again for no reason just out of spite for the Packers winning.

Yes, NSBB, I have returned. It was an amazing, wonderful, nail-biting game that I still haven't come down from. The 3rd quarter scared the crap out of me, especially with us seemingly losing one player every other play right before the half. It was our season in a nutshell-- a whole bunch of injuries, but someone stepping up and making a contribution.

This is one of the most improbable seasons I can ever remember, not just for the Packers, but for any team. To have 15 guys on IR would have devastated most teams under the circumstances. Not only that, but to have to win 3 tough road games and then beat an elite team in the Super Bowl without most of your starting secondary for the entire second half is just mind-boggling. I sincerely can't believe it. This is even sweeter than Super Bowl XXXI to me because it seemed so improbable, especially after the loss to Detroit.

I look forward to many years of hard-fought Bears/Packers battles as both teams are actually good at the same time for once. If the Bears get another playmaking WR and make a few other upgrades, they're gonna be scary good. It's going to be an interesting few years and I can't wait.

Now is the worst time of year-- that long stretch between the Super Bowl and Opening Day. I hate this time of year.

Yeah, that long stretch known as baseball season sure does suck.

So a 1200 yard rusher is somehow easily replaceable when there's no proven, capable backup behind that guy? Not buying it.

Grant's one of the more underrated backs in the league.

I'm not going to lie. I love seeing non-Packer fans talk about a potential dynasty. But this is a league where dynasties just don't happen and let's face it, we don't even know what's going to come from the CBA as well. I'm just going to enjoy the hell out of this one because you never know, I may never see it again.

Ok Ok, just having a little fun at your expense.

Really? They just won the Super Bowl without him.

I think that pretty much proves he's replaceable.

To be fair, the NFC didn't really have a very strong team this year. Than again, will they in the next few years?

Yeah, we had to depend on a 6th round rookie who didn't get his first NFL carry until December. I'll take my chances with a pretty proven RB in the league going forward, or at least splitting time with Starks.

i don't know how the results are much different. the offense wasn't much better or worse without him.

Our run game was obviously much worse this season compared to the last couple.

and look what happened. McCarthy is much better when calling a passing game and the run game is pretty much crippled

again, i doubt the results are much better with he or finley. i'm sure you'd take having an experienced, successful running back over the alternative. if anything it speaks to the ability of this team to shed non-essential players seeking large contracts in the future, which they will need to do.

the packers picked a good opponent to have if you're going to have next to no running game. pitt was easily the best team in the league at defending the run, so abandoning it wasn't going to hurt gb that much.

Well it's hard to top the results that we had this season. But yeah, I agree with all of that.

I think Mike Lombardi brought that up on one of Bill Simmons' podcasts last week, mentioning that it was unfortunate for Pittsburgh that their biggest strength would basically be wasted in this game.

I'm sure that's true, but still -- RB surely cannot be considered a need for this team when they just showed they can run a road schedule all the way to the Super Bowl and then win it with Starks + all the top-notch passing game options they have.

Obviously they would benefit from a better back, as all teams would.

I'd rather upgrade the O-line. Tauscher and Clifton are pretty much done.

Also as a pipe dream I'd love to draft Clay Matthews' brother and have both of them just wrecking everyone's [expletive] week after week on D.

if you have an elite QB, good offensive line and good WR, a having a good RB really doesn't matter. your OL will open up holes, linebackers will be back on their heels to defend the pass and the safeties can't come up to help. peyton manning had edgerrin james for a while, but none of his other RBs have been anything special. tom brady's backfield has been a revolving door.

Agreed, they're a pure passing offense, and a really good one. They just need a serviceable back who doesn't make stupid mistakes and hand the ball over.
