If nothing else, this makes the loss of Chirinos that much more insignificant.

The loss of Chirinos carried little to no significance to begin with.

Hence my phrasing.

...Hill brings nothing offensively IMO.

and very little defensively, or at least little that the Cubs couldn't get from a lot of other defense only catchers around the league. Certainly not enough to warrant starting him more than 25 times a season.

Has anyone clued Jimbo into the fact that he could probably bring Carlton Fisk into camp and at the age of 63 he'd probably still throw out more baserunners than Hill.

Hill has thrown out 28% of baseruners in his career despite playing more good running teams than a normal catcher would. That's pretty solid. Is it enough to make up for his putrid hitting? Absolutely not. But there's no reason to denigrate the one thing he actually does reasonably well.

My bad, I was going off of his percentage for last year.

What?

I think he means that since the Cubs were stupid last year, they constantly put Hill in when they were facing a good running team.

I'm not sure if it is statistically true, though. I'm sure you could probably just take a look at how many stolen base attempts were made off of him.

I'm not sure there's any justification for claiming he faced more good running teams than a normal catcher. But his 28% isn't even impressive.
