Next year's WR class looks much better than this. This year there were two elites and not another first round quality receiver. Next year I could see 5 or 6 possibly going in the first.

Agreed. The 2011 draft would have been stronger if Blackmon, Floyd and Broyles had turned pro. Now they slot in to the 2012 draft along with Jeffery and Fuller.

Here's an interesting breakdown of recruiting rankings versus the draft, including which schools and conferences maximize what they have for the NFL and on which side of the ball. Best and worst programs and conferences at developing NFL players

Then there's this graph. Top right quadrant are the teams that maximize the talent they have into wins and develop NFL players. Bottom left are failing to win and failing to send the expected amount of players to the NFL. Bottom right programs are winning m

And I agree that Te'o stays for his senior year.

dramatic overreaction aside, I agree. he already skipped or delayed his mission. i think he considers graduation an honor that he owes his parents. i suppose he could graduate in 3 years; i don't know what kind of workload he's been carrying. but i highly doubt it.

music to my ears

now we can sign a couple decent starters (Josh Wilson?, Tulloch/Nicholas?) to push some flawed players into depth roles and i'll start printing playoff tickets

i'm pretty sure you won't be able to get into the game if you try to use tickets you printed yourself, stupid

is the score kept in imaginary numbers?

that reminds me, i had a test in high school and didn't know how to do one of the questions that involved imaginary numbers, so i wrote a note suggesting that the teacher just imagine that i gave the correct answer. she was not amused.

I went to the Bears first playoff game this year with tickets I printed myself.

that's interesting in light of what's come out about programs like U$C and OSU (I mean, O$U) the last couple years.

Yeah, it just makes Iowa's accomplishments that much more impressive...

I'm not sure I understand that graph. But Iowa doesn't recruit the 5-star players that usc and osu do. They don't appear to be choir boys, but Iowa (like Wisconsin) turns a lot of low-ranked talent into NFL draftees.

Then again, recruiting rankings aren't intended to be predictors of NFL talent, but cfb talent. So comparing star recruits to the NFL draft is interesting, maybe, but a mis-application of the rivals and scout systems, imo.
