barrett had a .206 babip the year before he came to the cubs... you couldn't have foreseen him hitting as well as he did with us, but you could easily foresee him being significantly better than he was the previous year (that being said, jim hendry probably doesn't not know what babip is)

No, but Hendry is a scout by trade.

 

He's a bad GM, but is probably good at picking up who does/doesn't have good swing mechanics. We could point to the DeRosa and Edmonds pickups as evidence of that. Maybe he saw something he likes? Was that what happened with Barrett?

Yep, Hendry apparently loved Barrett's mechanics and tools for a while and felt like he'd be a breakout candidate.

Davis had a .275 BABIP last year with a 22.2 LD%. Just based on luck, he'll be better than last year. The question is would he rebound back to 2008 or 2009?

I am tired of this argument. You know we have fallen far when a small *possible* trade is all there is to talk about. Lets get this kid on the team already!
