Ted Simmons might be the only one I'd consider.

No doubt Morgan will homer for Davey Concepcion, but he's only really famous because he played for the Big Red Machine. He never lead the league in a single category and that lifetime 88 OPS+ is just bad to the bone. He'd join other exemplary players with such a poor OPS+ as Rabbit Marranville and Joe Tinker.

Ron Santo?
This group is people who's most significant impact was 1973--present. That's too recent for Santo to be included.

To add to this, the Veteran's Committee now votes on a three-year cycle. This year is 1973-onward; next year will be 1947-1972 ("the golden era"; I don't name these things, honest); 2012 will be pre-integration, 1871-1946. So Santo's next chance to get jobbed by the committee will be next year.

If Tommy John had only 12 more wins over the course of his career he'd have been in a long time ago.

I say induct his doctor for being the pioneer of a surgery that can help heal an injury that was once a career death sentence for a pitcher.
