It was a hell of a lot of fun reading soccer fans defending their sport's refusal to use instant replay or anything like it early this summer, arguing that the arbitrary nature of blown calls was a plus. Then the US played in the World Cup.

I'm glad the ref is the guy who made that argument. I don't see how there is enough visual evidence to overturn that though. I really hate the officiating in this league even though it helped my team.
