The past two seasons have been terrible to watch. I've all but given up on this year. Each day that passes and each loss creeps closer to the door being shut. Thank God this division is terrible or it would have been totally over a month ago.

Masochist that I am, I still watch most of the games. Partly because I have several Cubs on my fantasy team

So you're not good at fantasy baseball?

Marmol, Soto (if Lou would play him) and Soriano aren't bad fantasy options. Dempster is solid as well.

I remember seeing my fantasy team tank due to a ton of injuries in 2002 so I decided to trade for as many Cubs players as possible. I had 7 position players (the guy who had Hundley never checked in) and my staff had Wood, Bere, Fassero and Farnsworth. I think I had Stynes and Roosevelt Brown on my bench. Remarkably, I did not finish in last place.

Those are the three I have. My league doesn't count walks against pitchers, so Marmol is a gold mine. I also have Soriano and Lilly on the bench.

And my team is in first place.

I have Kosuke in an NL-only league on the bench and Castro in another league. I've got Soto in almost all my leagues and Marmol in a couple. And DLee and Lilly in one.

I'm first in a couple of those leagues, middle of the pack in two and awful in a fifth.

I have Soto as my starting catcher. That alone makes me more qualified to manage the Cubs than Lou.

I have Marmol and Byrd. I had Aramis to start the season, but I dumped him a long time ago.

I thought for a while about trying to buy low on Aramis. Then I decided not to.

I'm actually finding other catchers to start over Soto without actually cutting him. Lou refuses to play him consistently, so I'm finding guys like George Kottaras and Kurt Suzuki to play until Lou decides to start Soto again.

I doubt it'll be Lou's decision to make much longer, legacy or not.

I recently picked up Suzuki in the league where I have Soto, until either Lou remembers who his starting catcher is or Lou is replaced.

Yeah, that was my thinking too. I hate having a guy as productive as Soto on the bench, though (in fantasy and real life).
