Woohoo!! Going to every I-Cub game from the 4th to the 11th with my 14 year old son. Well except for the 6th, when I'm taking him to watch PTL basketball. I think it's a good present considering he can't play baseball or summer league basketball this year.

Am I wrong in thinking Tony Thomas is becoming intriguing again?

He's regained some of his lost luster, but I'd be cautious and wait until the end of the season before becoming interested in him. He goes through periodic hot spells and cold spells. Last year he started off hot, but crashed as the season progressed. His '08 was similar.

I'll be thrilled if he keeps up his production, but his history makes me leery.

Damn it, Rhee was going alright until that 6th.

Coleman got his ass handed to him.

Carpenter with a mediocre outing

The Good

Vitters 2-4 with a 2B and an HR. More please.

Brett Jackson 1/1? Did he just hit a bunch of sacs?

Jackson got pulled for a Pinch Runner in the second after being hit.

DaytonaCubs.com[/url]"]After the home run by Lake, Brett Jackson was supposedly hit intentionally by Alvarez and it drew a long argument from Cubs manager Buddy Bailey. Jackson would leave the game with a tricep contusion.

I know the fields in the Southern League are generally in bad shape (exception Montgomery), but Vitters now has 10 errors. Is it time to think about moving him to first or the outfield?

He's still 20 years old, he needs at least another year, and there's no overriding need for anyone at 1B or the OF. Keep him at 3B and see if he can ever figure it out. If not, moving him to 1B or the OF shouldn't be too difficult when he gets called up.
