Mark Buehrle: 3-6, 5.40 ERA

Carlos Silva: 8-0, 2.93 ERA

White Sox: Buerhle only netted three innings and gave up six runs in his last start, but he was taken off the hook when his counterpart, Jake Westbrook, also gave up six runs and allowed Buehrle to sneak by with a no-decision despite his poor outing. Buehrle threw 95 pitches despite only going those three innings. Buehrle's outing was over as soon as Lou Marson, who had not homered before in the season, took Buehrle deep with two runners on base to bring his earned run total to six runs. Lifetime against the crosstown rival Cubs, Buehrle is 4-4 with a 4.58 ERA in 11 starts.

Cubs: Silva tossed seven innings in his last start in Pittsburgh on Monday, surrendering one run on four hits and got the win. He made history, becoming the first Cubs starter since Ken Holtzman, who went 9-0 in 1967, to open a season with eight wins and no losses. Silva joined some pretty special company, considering the last pitcher in the Major Leagues to do that with any team was CC Sabathia, who went 8-0 in his first 10 starts with the Brewers in 2008. He also became the first Cubs starter to begin his Cubs career 8-0 in 100 years. King Cole started 8-0 back in 1910.

The sign is one of the few signs of a light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, I dont quite understand the fuss over this. If it generates revenue to put back into the team, to hopefully be spent by a smarter GM than Hendry, than who the hell cares. With all the money Hendrys wasted, they need all the money they can get to make up for it.

Im not asking for a miracle here. Im a simple man with simple expectations. All I ask is that Lou PLEASE start Soto and his .861 OPS over Hill and his .578 on a regular [expletive] basis. Its simple math really. When it comes to offensive stats, the player with the higher numbers should get more playing time. In this case, its no small difference. Its a pretty damn big one. Does Koyie Hill have to saw off another finger for Lou to make Soto an everyday catcher? If Soto were a Michael Barrett behind the plate, maybe it would be understandable, but Sotos no more a bad catcher than Hill is a great one. Other than that, if we could mayeb replace the 2B or 3B position with a 4th outfielder, we might be in OK shape.

How much money is off the books for next year?

I don't know the exact number, but there's Lilly, Lee, Miles, and Nady. Aramis could opt out, even with his brutal numbers this year considering the anemic free agent class.

I realize it's a business and bla bla bla bla, but our payroll is 144M, highest in the NL, third highest in baseball. What are we getting for that sign anyway? 1-2M a year? I'm not buying it. We said the same thing with the under armour signs. Next thing, they'll install a huge titantron for replays thanks to bill simmons.

wait, why is Soto playing?

Left hander on mound. Don't worry Hill will be right back in there vs the next Righty on the mound.

or as soon as a right-handed reliever comes in

Like I said Hill will be right back in there vs next righty on MOUND, notice I didn't say starter
